Yerba: Gourd Mould

by greenisgood » Jun 8th, '08, 17:53

I recently acquired a mate gourd and, after "seasoning" it by letting some mate sit in it for about 12 hours and scraping it a little, I have used it only twice. I noticed that the insides already look kind of greenish black as if already really seasoned but then I've been reading about people having mould problems in their gourds and was wondering if my gourd is getting mouldy or just normally seasoned. It smells normal (like mate) but when I look inside im not quite sure. If it is mould does anyone know of any methods to solve this problem?

Put boiling water in it and keep scraping. Store it in the fridge crisper drawer.
