Revolution DragonEye Oolong vs Adagio Peach Oolong

I got some Revolution DragonEye Oolong from a Teachat friend in a bulk swap we did... and I totally love it. The description says it is flavored with peach, apricot, and safflower... it is totally light and smooth, and doesn't have that artificial taste at all... very light flavor, not overpowering, just lovely.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried it... because I'm wondering how it compares to the Adagio Peach Oolong. Revolution's comes only in infuser bags, and not loose. I'd really prefer a loose selection so I can control how much leaf I brew at one time. The Adagio Peach Oolong gets nice reviews, so I'm sure I will order some and try it... but I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried both and can offer any comparison.... or can suggest a comparable product from another vendor.

Can't help on the Adagio offering, but the box of Dragon Eye I have also lists Marigold Flowers and Ginger in the ingredients. Just wanted to let you know if you didn't already. The ginger flavor is pretty noticeable in my bags...

Yep yep... main label listed peach, apricot and safflower... but I found the ginger and marigold in the fine print of the ingredients list... good catch, and thanks for pointing it out.

I am still absolutely *loving* it. <sipppppp>

I would think a pinch of ground ginger added to the Adagio Peach Oolong would make a pretty nice tea. Or how about a ginger peach/peach oolong custom blend? :wink:

Good idea on the blending... I will see what I can come up with. The trick will be getting the ginger in there without any black tea... as I'd like to keep this all oolong, or maybe oolong/white.

I did a peach oolong/peach white blend called Just Peachy... thinking maybe I can add a dash of fresh ginger to that if needed.

Or I could just keep buying the Revolution brand and cut open the pyramid bags, but what a pain that is!

I tried your idea since I had all the teas and it turned out pretty good. I used about a scoop and a half of White Peach (because it is a fluffy tea), a scoop of Peach Oolong, and two slices of fresh ginger, chopped up. I steeped it in a large mug at 195*F for 5 minutes and it was tasty. The White Peach seemed to make the overall peachy flavor more subtle and the ginger added a really nice zing to it. Great idea!

If you are going for a more apricot taste, try either the Apricot Green or the Apricot Honeybush. The Honeybush might blend well with the Peach Oolong, but it could be too sweet. I may have to try that idea.

Glad it turned out well! Let me know if you try it with the honeybush... I was really wishing for an apricot oolong or white to blend, but I hadn't thought of the honeybush. I'm reluctant to try it because I don't care at all for rooibos... so now I have cold feet.

Honeybush tastes nothing like Rooibos. It is sweet, fruity, and a bit floral flavored. The apricot honeybush overpowered the Peach Oolong, so I will try it again with more oolong and less honeybush. The current concoction is tasty though. I am enjoying adding fresh ginger bits to my teas.

Just got my honeybush samples... one vanilla and one apricot. I brewed the apricot and was surprised to find I like it very well. It was much sweeter than I'd expected, and as you said, nothing like Rooibos (which for me is a good thing).

I drank about half of it, and it got a bit too sweet, so I mixed the 2nd half with some leftover formosa oolong and it made a nice blend. I'm one of those people who usually sweetens tea, and this needed no sweetener at all.

Interesting taste... won't be something I'll drink every day, but its nice to have a caffeine free option in my cabinet. I'm looking forward to trying it iced, and I think it will make a nice blender with other teas that need a boost.
