Korean Teaware

by Victoria » Jul 14th, '08, 00:48

Ok, I have been jonesing for sometime now for Korean teaware. Chip's post in TeaDay, has completly pushed me over the edge.

Why, oh why, is it so hard to find anything Korean????

Any links would be appreciated.

EXCEPT Korean-Arts - have that one.

http://www.hankooktea.co.kr/

they have some english pages and sell some teaware, but I don't know whether they ship outside Korea.

Maybe you could send an email to the korean tea culture association. The site is only in korean though.

Franchia (http://franchia.com/franchia/index.html) sells some teaware

You can find two korean teasets on this page:

Yes, Hankook's domestic site has been down since before the Expo. They said it would be up in a few weeks. I wanted to check some other stuff out. I like what I got. Perfect for premo Gyokuro since they are only 2ish ounces.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I can't wrap my mind around a 2 oz pot.
So the yield is like one sip?

The matching cups are actually thimbles?

 No, the pot that resembles a gyokuro pot yields exactly as much as it takes to fill the approximately 2 ounce cup. The pot by a manufacturer standard would likely hold 2.5 ounces up to the pot's lip.

The cup will yield 3 slurpy sips of divine elixir.

This is ONLY for super premium Gyokuro enjoyment. The prescibed ratio of grams leaf to ounces water is a whopping 2:1. It is really rich and elegant.

Off subject a bit...the leaf is then eaten with soy sauce or with rice, etc.

I would second Hankook, they have some very nice items and have always been very nice when I have spoken with them. It is where my Korean tea set came from

I would suggest trying to email or calling them them if you are interested in placing an order. I dont see tea sets listed online, they have some cups and such though.
