Black tea drinkers, unite ... we need a nickname!

by geeber1 » Jul 16th, '08, 11:12

Yesterday, in another thread, Chip mentioned that those of us who prefer black tea don't have a nickname yet:
Suggestion three...Can't say anything bad about the black tea drinkers here, except they don't have a nick name yet.
Any suggestions? :?:

Ooohh, that sounds kind of sinister, but tough at the same time! We could rule the universe with that name!

Dark Siders Unite! +1 for me, too.

Oolongians...come over to the Dark Side....mwaahhahahahahaha.

Yep, I like the sound of it.

I think of y'all as Those Who Have Not Seen the Light, but that's not very catchy.

It may not be very catchy, but it is true and not in a sense you might have meant it.

When I roll out bed in the morning I really cannot see the light because I can't keep my eyes open. I need my cup or two of Assam to wake up enough to see the light, LOL!

Even though black tea drinkers seem to be the red-headed step children of this site, I think we deserve a name.

I like "The Dark Side". "Most Popular For A Reason" would work too! :P

Don't dispair, oolong was in this state not long ago and look at Chip's recent feeble attempts to dominate with green.

Well, a few nicknames come to mind, but they could too easily be misconstrued...

I love my good Blacks/Reds almost as much as my Greens- Great Black Tea's (Assams, Darjeelings, Keemun, Fujians, Yunnan, even Ceylon) can be so complex and multi-tonal, almost a spiritual experience. Those lipton and twining drinkers have no idea what they're missing...

And since I'm both a Black and Green fan, u may call me a Bleen. Or a Grack. Either one, it's up to you...

Yes, oolong was not very popular, not that long ago. :)
It is definitely in its glory now, but everything goes in cycles.

I hope blacks do become more popular, I've been exploring more
and more of them as of late myself! I usually start my day with one.

We need to remember it's a friendly competition, and we all love tea.
And plenty of us cross back and forth between the lines.

No one is right and no one is better and no one is a step-child. The oolong lovers are just reveling in the glory of the popularity of our favorite tea right now; as you will be when it's your turn.

The bottom line is - it's all about the tea.

I've been making cautious forays into oolong and liking what I've found so far. I will definitely be ordering that Oolong #8.

Please forgive my attempt at humor, above. The whole
Greens-Oolongonians-Dark Siders thing amuses me.

Most definitely! We should all have fun with it,
let's just not forget we are playing.

These little reality checks are great reminders.

I've got some Darjeeling samples coming and I am so excited!
I like darjeelings but I'm a newbie!! Wow all the estates and initials and flushes!
Not sure what it all means, but I'm having fun.
Adagio's Spring Darjeeling opened a whole new world to me.
I feel the lure of the DARK SIDE!

You would not believe how much it amuses me, too.

We need a better name for the Green Clan, though.
