Congrats!

I second the Yunnan Gold.

You might want to try the Spring Darjeeling
while it's still around, good stuff!

Suggestions:
Monk's Blend (Organic)-NM Tea Co
Assam Melody-Adagio

Had a small sample of Keemun while at the trade shows & liked it. That's the next one on my list to try. Have fun!

Assam Melody
Ceylon Sonata
(I mix Assam Melody and Ceylon Sonata together for iced tea, kind of a homemade Irish Breakfast mix)
Darjeeling #22
Golden Monkey

I haven't been too thrilled with Chinese black teas, with the exception of Golden Monkey. For some reason the Chinese ones taste more bitter to me than Indian or Ceylon(ese?) teas.

My favorite Black Tea growing Regions are, in no particular order:

Yunnan (ie Golden Yunnan)
Keemun
Fujian
Assam (Meleng Estate is out of this world)
Ceylon

I am spoiled, I could not drink mediocre black tea anymore, barring extenuating circumstance Image

BTW, tea names like Orange Pekoe are just advertising terms for consumer-grade, mass-marketed tea and don't mean anything in particular in that usage-

But the good news is that higher-end tea is not all that expensive, and readily available if you know where to look! The Adagio offerings are a good start, and SpecialTeas rocks. Good luck!

The Black Tea Music Video is possibly the
funniest thing have ever seen!

Thanks for the list joelbct- I will remember to look for
those. I am thinking of getting the following:

An Assam
A Keemun
A Yunnan
Silver Needle
Possibly more- just a small amount of each, enough to try several times.

Tea Drinking Peasant,

New Mexico Tea Company also makes a Scottish Breakfast. Be advised it's not for the weak at heart. Not a drop of sweetness and very stout. I loved it when I first got it from them, but over time, it just became too much to drink everyday...Theirs makes a typical Irish Breakfast tea taste like water.

After trying Adagio's Golden Monkey, I would recommend it highly. It's richer than the Assam Melody that was previously suggested.
