Tuesday TeaDay 8/12/08 Tea selection, how long?

by Chip » Aug 12th, '08, 03:24

Yesterday, TeaChatters voted overwhelmingly that they highly rated Chinese teas overall. You can still vote and discuss this topic.

Good TeaDay everyone, and welcome! Shall we brew and share what is in our cups today, all day?

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic, we take a vacation from China. Yesterday, I started to wonder, how long does it take to pick your next tea to drink on average. Although not part of the poll, so we can get an idea if it is affected by how many teas you have open, also share about how many teas you have open.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone (I better start deciding what to drink). Bottoms up!

I love the composition on this one, Sal. The contrast between the organic (clay and wood) and the porcelain is very nice. What is the flower? So unique with the tiny flowers in the center of the bract, almost like a dogwood.

I am an impulse brewer- only a few seconds- and that's a good thing for me since it helps me use up already opened tea.

If I had to count what I already had opened, it would take half the morning. A lot of my opened stuff is samples from fellow Tea chatters, though.

My impulse brew this morning is actually coffee. Probably only the 3rd cup I've had all year. I just woke up craving it this morning. Not a good sign or pretty soon I'll be buying up new coffees again just like I do with tea. I had given that hobby up- or so I thought.

Believe me, any composition is entirely accidental. Now that you mention it, it does look a little screwy. The clay/porcelain business makes it look all lopsided.

I think the flower is a zinnia. My 20x magnifier seems to confirm that the mini flowers are actually stamens with their anthers covered in yellow pollen. Ain't nature grand?

Wow that's amazing! I think zinnias are so common that I've never really looked at one like this before, lovely. I think I'll plant some next year!

Ditto. One of my favorites so far. The geometrical figures and the compostion made me think of Mondrian's paintings, although less strict.

Deciding on a tea is the matter of a second for me. It's either SN, a lesser white or one of the two greens I have around for variety.

I chose a few seconds, although, it has taken a few minutes on occasion.
In my cup is an almost empty Yunnan Golden and in less than a second I've decided to have another.

That is something I've decided before I go to make me a tea, think there have been developed a tiny tea center in my brain taking care of those decisions :?

Today I'm having guests, so it will be multiple teas. It's a special day so I'm gonna start with Gong fuing some Imperial Da Hong Pao, then move on to some Traditional Shui Xian.

The first cup of the day is the easiest. BUT after that it gets difficult with all the choices. I try to at least choose a category, "Oolong? Pu Erh? Hmmm...?" Lately, when stuck I'll grab for the Nepal FF. Always a winner - complex and yet forgiving.

:D Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Salsero, another great shot! The circles are the key there, I think. :-)

I know what you mean. Sometimes nothing but a nice cup of black lava will do.

Figuring out what to drink next is the worst part of drinking tea. It can take me hours. Seriously.

I say if it take you longer than a few seconds, then you really don't want any.

Just a few seconds for me, I usually know what I want.

Some nice Estate Darjeeling to start the day.

Have a nice day everyone!
