Thursday TeaDay 8/21/08 TeaWare shopping currently?

by Chip » Aug 21st, '08, 00:11

Yesterday, 2 out of 3 TeaChatters indicated they were in at least some stage of ordering TEA! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

 Welcome to everyone :!: This is TeaDay. Shall we brew and share what is in our cups today, all day :?:

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic asks the obvious after yesterday's topic. Are you actively TeaWare shopping? Yes, no, maybe, NO, ALWAYS? If yes, what are you shopping for? Care to share?

I am as always looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone! Bottoms up, everybody!

Not an active hunt, but I'm always on the lookout for some good teaware.

I have more than enough teawares, so I don't mean to be actively hunting the elusive teaware ... yet I always seem to come home with an antelope over my shoulder :?

Last weekend I bagged up some bubble wrap I'd accumulated, and took it to a young potter who sells her wares at a local market and therefore has a perpetual need for packing materials. I had every intention of giving her the bubble wrap, and then leaving. NO buying (I told myself) was to take place. This transaction was to be purely environmental in nature.

Well, OK, maybe I'll just take a few minutes to have a friendly chat about glazes.

The upshot was, I spotted a gorgeous little yunomi that was, um, irresistible ("and only $10" - that's my inner voice speaking, not the potter's!). Plus, I also ended up commissioning a one-of-a-kind yunomi that may be ready, if I'm lucky, around Christmastime.

Sigh. I've got the bug... bad. Someone please stop me!

Ha! Well, I'm no help at all. Perpetually shopping. It's a disease.

Always and forever - of course.
:)

Butttt ...

Finally got my new computer tonight after a bad crash and limping by with a loaner. The cost of this baby will slow me down in the teaware department for awhile.

I look when I go shopping, especially the antique stores, but don't normally buy anything. I'm pretty happy with what I have now.

Pu-shop's mini tea bricks at work this morning...

I alarmingly find myself looking at teaware and other china whenever I visit a department store. That never happened before.
So my answer to the poll is "yes, but only subconsciously".

I'm always looking for new tea and wares.

Currently drinking fine temple of heaven gunpowder green from specialteas.com. Nice cheap everyday drinker.

I suppose I am always kind of on the look out, but I try to restrain myself and tell myself that what I have already is perfectly fit for purpose, thus attempting to stick loosely to the Way of the Tea principles! I am looking to buy some Matcha gear soon, but not just yet. Oh yes, and I have two glass teapots on their way from Yunnan... Guess I've caught the bug too! Fukamushi shincha for me this morning, have a great day everyone!

I'm currently looking for a new Kyusu. I have one in my sight (there is a picture of it in the Ode to Yutaka Midori topic), but have to think about it for a little while since the price is high.

Gonna start the teaday with some Yutaka Midori.

Yes I just completed a birthday list for Dragon Tea House, that includes my first Gongfu table. I also put down a set of celaden cups, celaden gaiwan, celeden serving pitcher and a gongfu brush.

I've bought a new Zhuni yixing few days ago..

I am just taking care of it..new pot takes at least a month to get rid of smell and show a natural gloss
