Yunnan Gold in the cup and Grateful Dead (3/18/77) on the stereo - yup it's going to be a great day!

Heading off in a bit to investigate a few new local tea/teaware stores in the eternal quest for cups - thanks to doyoulovedee and Pentox for the suggestions! Will post pics if I stumble across anything particularly interesting

Smari, your avatar is adorable! That kitten looks right at home in that cup!

When I have tea in the a.m. it's usually while getting myself and 9-year-old ready for work/school, so our background noise is usally whatever cartoon is on TV at the time.

In the evening it's nice to relax, so if there happens to be music, that's fine, or not.

This morning I'm having iced assam/ceylon mix.

Agreed, keep it away from Mr. Firefox.

I do not have to listen to music, but if I am in the mood, definitely. But I can easily listen to the silence as well, or the sound of an indoor fountain, or nature sounds, did you ever listen to snow falling? I once listened to the temperature drop to all time records lows for my area. No music currently.

I enjoy anything from classical, traditional Asian, classic rock, some folky stuff, some new age stuff, some indie stuff ... to name a few.

Enjoyed a cup of Adagio Golden Monkey a little earlier. Now thinking something Japanese.

When I drink tea, I go on about my day as usual. So, while I do sometimes listen to music, it's just whatever I was already listening to before I decided to brew a cup. I rather enjoy the contrast between a soothing cup of tea and some alt rock or punk on the stereo, though.

Oh, and I love the cat avatar -- reminds me of my cats and their undying love for boxes.

It reminds me that I have to do an allergy test for Siberian cats, that I'm not allergic to that particular race is my only hope of getting a cat. Really annoying to be allergic when I love cats as much as I do.

I'm about to hop out to New Hope, PA to check out some antique shops for tea ware. Hopefully, I can find me something decent and will definitely share some photos if I come across any

Tea for me is usually accompanied with a book, so inner-narrative takes the place of music. But I have a nice collection of traditional Chinese music, most of it on the Qin or Erhu, which makes good tea drinking accompaniment. Also good for Go (Weiqi) study.

I have a co-worker that listens to death metal at all times. Including the tea I gave him, which he drinks out of a black mug patterned in skulls.

I don't usually listen to music while I drink tea, but if I watch a DVD I always drink tea. In my cup, a 2nd flush Darjeeling.

Toki, known to TeaChatters as Tim, posted a nice, 3-part blog series this last week in which he combines a musical theme with a tea tasting by his extended family of a family heirloom tea. The body of the piece is devoted to extended family, with the final post a picture of matrimonial domestic bliss. I found the whole serious quite engaging, photos as much as text. Tim works in graphic arts so his pictures always speak volumes.

I loved the idea of multiple generations getting together to spend an evening tasting a single, infinitely valuable tea that had been in the family for ages. Very moving, very Chinese, very tea.

there's a little tea shop there that isn't too bad. i get my phoenix #1, iron goddess of mercy oolong there.

I've been listening to very little music for a while. But of course it happens to be some music on while i sip my T. I like Nick Drake, Eels, traditional and folk, Carla Bruni, Beatles, Lennon, Lykke Li, Amy Macdonald, Marianne Faithfull, Glen Hansard, Cat Stevens, The Ark, The Doors, The Donnas, White Stripes and - above all others - Patti Smith.

Currently drinking my fifth steep of Gui Hua, oolong that have been flavoured with Osmanthus flowers in the same way that Jasmine pearls has been flavoured.

The good thing with good oolong is that it lasts all day. The bad thing is you only have time for one tea a day...

I don't necessarily set out to have "music and tea," but I often have my itunes playing on shuffle while I'm at the computer. Computer time and tea definitely go hand in hand for me.

This morning, magnolia oolong from the pass box. I really like this one. Have already tried both baozhong, the FLT is quite good, but the teamasters wenshan baozhong is amazing, I loved it, and must order it.

So many interesting posts!

The morning started with Yunnan Gold and then a bottle of oolong Anteadote while I was out running errands. It was at Whole Foods, yay! Don't know what I'll brew next, but I think I have a sencha craving!

Music and tea go well together, but like the Chipster, I too enjoy silence and nature sounds. Though it would be cool (no pun intended) if he'd elaborate about hearing the temperature drop.

Music wise, there isn't much I won't listen to. My dad collected records for years, still does when he finds something unique. Gives one diverse exposure! We had an entire room in our house devoted to vinyl albums.

There are two NYC bands I'll be checking out. Heard about them both this past week at a trade show. Takka Takka and Guts. These might call for some kind of funky oolong.

I mostly enjoy quiet, coming from a noisy work environment, I like peaceful quiet at home and many times don't even think of turning on music. I do however really enjoy music. I like to crank it up when I'm house cleaning or working out.

This morning err... afternoon after working till 3:30 AM I'm downing a double pot of my Glenburn Darjeeling in hopes of finding the energy to get through the laundry.

Geek - the Boazhong is indeed amazing, a great find by Tenuki that has generated much interest and many sales. The Magnolia oolong was my find, and I'm quite pleased with its delicate flavor and aroma. It's a very nice everyday tea, also amazing iced. Very understated and unassuming. Both of those are in my top rotation.
