Sunday TeaRoom TeaDay 8/24/08 Drinking tea solo?

by Chip » Aug 24th, '08, 04:33

Music and tea responses were pretty mixed yesterday. You can still vote and discuss this topic.

Welcome to another TeaRoom TeaDay. Everyone is invited to brew some tea and share what is in your cups today, all day!

Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Ironic question for a TeaRoom discussion. Are you enjoying tea alone today? Meaning, not necessarily alone, but the only tea drinker.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone today, all day. Bottoms up.

The tea is Ali Shan. The cup is Czech, as were 3 of my great, great grandparents.

Beautiful picture!

I'm enjoying a nice organic fukamushi this early AM....Alone :D

Although I have some friends locally that enjoy tea, I think I'm definitely the only "fanatic" that I know. Thanks to this forum I no longer feel alone! :D

Being a Sunday, my wife will join me for tea at lunch time. That's our weekly tradition.

Most other days, it's a solo experience, though.

It may just be me and in the middle of the night, but does this question make grammatical sense?

Are you the enjoying tea alone? And are you the only tea drinker?

Hehehe!
Thought I needed more tea. Just one cup of Yunnan Gold as usual. More to follow ASAP.

Great pic , Sal! Gorgeous cup and saucer!

In our household, my son (10 years old) and I are the tea drinkers. My husband will drink tea occasionally and prefers smokey teas, but he is truly a coffee drinker.

Getting ready to make a pot of Ceylon.

Nice photo again, Salsero. The flowers must be glads -- this I know b/c I can grow glads. Which means it is a species you cannot kill. My uncle sent me one of those "easy to grow orchids" that I am currently not getting along with.

I am not the only tea drinker, so of course I am not alone. I am slowly converting my family to drinking some tea. Almost everyone in the house has an occasional cup of something once/wk. My oldest is drinking iced tea.

Woke up late today and missed the entire F-1 race in Valencia, Spain. I did get to see Filippe Massa take his final lap to the finish line.

Lyons Gold for me this morning.

I was the original tea drinker in my household, converted my husband to iced tea from soda, then to hot tea, and am now working on other family members.

I also began watching the race just in that moment.

Have been drinking Gui Hua today, lots of cups. Now am drinking Ding Dong but can't get it right, so frustrating!

I'm usually a solo tea drinker. I do force everyone coming home to me to drink some cups, but they usually don't get the idea *sigh*

Here's some spent Gui Hua leaves from today

In my cup this morning is Adagio Yunnan Gold,
probably my favorite morning choice.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Um... (That's okay, that's what I call it too.)

Your leaf photo is stunning! Yay for natural light!

Ditto on the photo, Sal. I like the glads, and is your teacup apple blossoms? Nice.

augie, this totally cracked me up! I used to have a "green thumb" when I was a teenager. I had a whole iron shelving unit in my bedroom full of plants and flowers. (Boring kid. Ha!) Somewhere between the age of 14 and 20, I lost my plant growing ability almost completely. Now the only thing I can keep alive is Dracaena, Spider plant, and Peace Lily, none of which I can have at home because of the plant-eating cats.

This morning I've finished my matcha and I'm about to dive into a Shi Ru Xiang generously shared by ABx. I'm a little bit oolonged out at the moment.

Sal - that cup is so beautiful! I totally love the flowers on there.
Beidao - I love that photo; the leaves look so gorgeous in that light like that.

This morning, my boyfriend finally joined me for some tea. We had some Genmai cha and thought it resembled a breakfast cereal - which was perfect for breakfast!

I guess I won't be drinking tea alone on weekends anymore, hehe. I only go solo when I am at work, which is actually great- considering the amount of stress that can be lifted from crazy amount of projects I get. Woo hoo
