What cake for a gift in 18 years?

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

If I were you

I think a gold coin could be a better investment.

Granted, a 7542 cake could be worthing over $ 1,000 in 18 years, but what if it is ruined? A bottle of liquor? Nope, I think you got to get the whole barrel.

Bourbon Trail

by Jim Liu » Sep 6th, '08, 22:04

I took a trip on famous bourbon trail last month - two hours away from Indy.

I then realized how hard it was to age our favorite beverage, being a bourbon or Pu-erh tea.

Aging conditions fluctuates everywhere, Bubba lives in MO they have average of over 60% humidity there so no problem. In HONG KONG it's not hot and super humid all year round. They have dry periods too between november and march it's less humid 60% avg. Actually perfect MO is excellent for aging.
Yessir - and anyone, if you need ideal storing conditions, please send your pu to me. But be warned... there might be some pu mice living in my pumidor... :o

I read about this old tradtion from over a hundred years ago when wealthy English folks would buy a case of a vintage of Port or Medeira or Bordeaux same year of the child's birth and give it to them when they reached their majority.

I wish someone would have done that for me, whether it be pu-erh or wine.
Regards,

Vincent

That's interesting - my folks said to do the same thing, buy a bottle of port. We're from Canada so the British traditions are common... like Boxing Day!
