Grettings from another Floridian

by chad » Sep 23rd, '08, 14:24

I've been lurking for a week or so waiting on my login certification! Thanks for being a very informative bunch. The atmosphere here is similar (but not quite as "guy" themed) to a BBQ forum I frequent.

I live in Clearwater and have gotten the urge to learn more about tea. Currently I'm learning about greens and whites with the occassional foray into blacks (I know, I know, newbie!). From other interests I've come to realize I like learning and dabbling with esoteric "stuff". I drink what I like, I brew (with guidance) what I like and so far have been very pleased.

I'm looking to move toward Pu Erh just because it's an interesting concept...aged teas. I don't know if I'll get "into" specialized pots, 4-second infusions, etc. but stranger things have happened with my other hobbies/interests.

Thanks for being a welcoming and elightening bunch.

There's getting to be quite a few of us. Maybe we could organize a putsch.

Welcome Chad! I think you'll fit right in. Oh, and if you are interested in dabbling in the esoteric, tiny teapots and 4 second infusions are going to happen. It's just a matter of time. :D

Impossible. Surely there are no beer halls in Florida.

And welcome, Chad :D

Sorry, Chad, Scruff has never been wrong on this. You may as well resign yourself!

Thanks for the quick and warm welcome.

Believe me, I understand esoteric. I've done competition BBQ for about 5 years. You would not believe the myths, mysteries, and "rules" surrounding meat and fire!

I'm looking forward to learning about tea. I'll admit that watching the Bob Lee Hoffman documentary on Sundance channel got the interest piqued.

I think it would be great to have a "gathering" (in my other world we call them "Bashes") to taste and learn about tea. I'm a bit beyond buying a bunch of stuff to "try" -- now, if I happen to find suitable pots, cups, etc. at thrift shops (I live in God's waiting room - lots of good stuff at local thrift shops) and estate sales, well then I will "have" to buy a suitable sample of the appropriate tea to try!! :D

I can tell it'll be fun.

Welcome Chad!

A tea bash sounds like a wonderful idea. Too bad my apartment is too small for socializing...
