As I always come across new pu's online and want to show you guys for opinions, instead of just starting up a new thread every time I just made this one. So if you found a new cake or want an opinion on a cake put it in here. To start it off here is interesting cake I just saw at YSLLC. Looks pretty good, for the price.

While we are randomly throwing lists of cakes into different threads, I might as well take a turn.

I am getting these. A few classic recipes to round out my 07/08 collection for aging, plus some shu for drinking in the mean time.

Nothing wrong with lots and lots of threads, IMO. In fact, it seems easier than one big huge thread for "new pu". More organized and descriptive that way. My 2c..

Decent idea.
So many ways to sort and display information practically. I'm always trying to get ideas for the board on my own website, which is in its infancy currently. I have a slowly (very) growing forum.

This is a fascinating cake. Organic leaves in a Menghai ripe tea! Fascinating indeed.

From the vendor:
"Vajra is the first product from Menghai that adopts latest fermentation technique. The raw material is from organic production area in Menghai. Workers have selected the mao cha and divide it into robust and tender leaves, the fermentation is done separately with different time and process. After that, the leaves are blended and pressed into cakes."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I take this to mean that the buds and the larger thick leaves were fermented separately, which would make for a very interesting tea as they were both fermented for different periods of time. This is also a fascinating cake in that it's super rare we see an organic product from Menghai. Actually now that I think about it, I can't even think of a single time I've seen a product from Menghai claiming to be organic. So this makes me wonder, where are my organic raw recipe tea cakes Menghai? Even new productions, just some organic raw teas.

Anyone tried this, or plan on buying? I'm sure we'd all absolutely love to hear your opinions. I plan on buying a cake eventually, but it's low on my priority list.

Looks good. Alittle pricy though for a shu. Most shu's taste pretty similar whether cheaper expensive, so I would say go with cheap $10 cakes or a big bag of tuochas.

I wouldn't call it that pricey. That's still under $25 a pound, and consider what a $25 pound of green or oolong tastes like........

I agree that shu's taste somewhat similar, but not similar enough to not warrant a large price gap. You have to factor in a few things; factory, source of leaves, fermentation level, age, etc. For instance, I've never had an "old" 7572, or even an "old" 7672, but I'm willing to bet that the 7672 would probably taste more like a real aged sheng comparatively, and therefore personally worth more than the 7572 due to it's lighter fermentation. If you want to go to an extreme of differences in shu, try the 06 Xiaguan french export shu toucha, and a recent 7572 from Menghai. [/i]

Looks like a nice cheap but good cake that should be similar to a Menghai product. Thinking of getting 2 of these and 2 menghai 8582.

Friend of mine ordered this and we took some pictures yesterday and did a short gongfu session.

Lots of minerals and a bit of smoke and earth. Little bit of mushroom. Moderate bitterness. Bitterness went away after two steepings. More pics on my website forum http://www.beanleafgrape.com/forum under the Pu-Erh section if you care to see the spent leaves and liquor.

I suppose the idea behind this thread is to be geared more towards the new cakes out that are worth mentioning, not just a new pu free-for-all :)
