Just a thought for those with concerns about steaming a tuocha... Don't forget that all our puer has been steamed in the past when pressing it. I guess one wouldn't want to do this more than necessary, but lightly steaming, then thoroughly drying a young tuocha probably won't really hurt it so much.

That said, I'm happy to keep hacking away with my pick & probably wouldn't consider steaming anything that had much value to me.

Your "yellow mould" looks like crushed leaves to me, but I can't tell for sure because it's fuzzy when you get up close.
