Dan Cong “Old Bush Phoenix Oolong”
[Purchased in 2008. Probably from 2007 or 2008]
Imperial Tea Court
Steeped quickly in a Yixing Teapot ¾ full with leaves
3.5 Leaves: Medium/light roast. Some green color. Proper twisting. Very few off color leaves. Very few stems. Appears greener when wet.
4.5 Dry Aroma: Extremely fragrant. Peach like. This is how a Dan Cong should smell like!
4.5 Wet Aroma: When the water first touches the leaves a very strong peach smell is encountered. The smell remains sweet becoming more floral and honey like after a short wait. The peach smell returns every time when water is added.
6 Taste: Slightly too bitter. Some sweetness is barley noticeable.
7.5 Mouthfeel: Nice, but there is some pucker on the cheeks
7 Aftertaste: Pleasantly sour peach. Lingers for along time. A sweetness stays on the breath.
5 Resteep: Many, many steeps.

You may well be. Imen is the de facto expert on the internet in general. HERE is her current inventory. The sample packs can be quite revealing, and she is very helpful at offering brewing guidance. You may enjoy browsing some of the old posts on her site as well.edkrueger wrote: I might be the de facto expert on Dan Cong here –since its so under appreciated.
You may very well be. I've not had much success with them in general. To the point now, I shy away. It seems they are very fickle and inconsistent. It is hard to find a good one, and then *poof* it is gone.edkrueger wrote:The smell for this one is great. I've had others that taste better. I will post more reviews.
