I was looking at Awazon on ebay, and discovered that they also have a website:

Anyway I was curious if anyone has tried any of the raw puerh cakes from them. The prices including shipping seem quite reasonable and a lot of the cakes, at least from the pictures, look like they are made of pretty nice material. Anything worth trying?

What's the deal with their Awazon brand name anyway? I don't think they are a factory. Do they contract with factories? Does their name on the package indicate anything special about quality?

I am, however, tempted by this Jingmai and this Jinggu and they have a puerh cake stand that would be nice to have for photo opps with the puerh stars.
Looking through the two sites a bit, I have an impression that the proprietor leans toward tippier, spring sheng productions and my own preferences seem to lie with darker, bigger leaved cakes. That suggests that I might actually prefer the less expensive Jingmai.

2003 Long Huan Hao raw cake by the Daduang Long Yuan Tea Factory (Mangzhi mountain tea)
2006 Spring Yunnan wild original Raw Puerh tea cake (Nu river area.)
2006 Super Horse QiZi (Zhu YunMing) Raw tea Cake by the Yunnan Nan Yang tea factory. Memorial cake for Zhu ZhiShan
2001 Date Flavored Shu brick (Claims produced in Menghai, but no factory named.)
I bought them back when I was just starting to learn about pu, tried them once and then tucked them away in my file cabinet and moved on to drinking some 'drink it now' Nan Jian and silver tip tuochas that were considerably less challenging.
I recall them as being strong, smoky, bitter and complex but my notes are far from complete as I was a complete beginner at the time. I should probably give them another try now that I've tasted more puerh. I'm not sure that a couple years aging in Michigan will have done much, but they are among the strongest smelling cakes in my little file cabinet.

No, I'm afraid of off flavors in my basement. (100 year old house with an only semi-improved basement.) I keep mine in my library, which while it isn't completely away from kitchen odors is probably the best compromise in my house.thanks wrote:Those brewed leaves are very sexy.
