Eligibility:
You must be a member of TeaChat for at least one month and have at least 15 posts.
Rules:
You must own the cup
The cup need not be made in England - just of the English style, i.e. it must have a handle and a saucer.
Pictures should be uploaded in a uniform size with 640 x 480 being the maximum size.

Pictures will be uploaded here in posts. We will try to keep things even by setting the maximum size of 640 x 480. Post entries will be accepted up until 12:00 noon, Saturday the 15th.
After the deadline I will be adding a poll for the voting process!
You may submit up to 3 cups for consideration, in the first round, however, only one cup per person will be allowed in the finals.
Voting will be open to all members of TeaChat.

We inherited this Johnson Brothers set from my grandmother-in-law several years ago. She collected the china through bonuses offered by the local hardware store in the 1940s. The floral pattern on the saucer is also inside the cup.

Yes, I know what you're thinking: "Sirrah, 'tis absurd. A cup of the English variety, containing what looks suspiciously like sencha? And a teaspoon, presumably for stirring said brew? We think not. 'Tis absurd, impossible, and surely illegal. And dude, take a photography course already."
Good points. But I have my reasons for this setup.
The cup is an heirloom of indeterminate age, and I kind of like its blue-white scheme. On the bottom it says "Made in Japan", so the sencha thing is not entirely unjustified to my confused mind. Also, I have no black tea right now. And also, the saucer and cup have matching golden rims, which is never wrong.
The silver teaspoon (it is strictly speaking a c*ffee spoon) is of a locally popular design that was for many decades manufactured by a branch of my family.
I rest my case.
This is just a fun way to show off some of the English teacups we have, as it was mentioned that English style cups don't get much exposure in the show-off thread, I thought this might be a fun way to correct that and encourage people to post their wares! It's all on looks, which ever one appeals to you most. Since this is the first time we have done this if we need to define any criteria along the way, I'm sure it will work out as it progresses.Pentox wrote:Out of curiosity, what's the selection criteria?

Great Contest, I luv it!!! I won't be involved, none of my heirloom English teacups are here w/me at Mom's..this despite the fact that I don't know how to post pics 
I will work on that when I get back home.
Anyway, so I will get to enjoy the cups of others and maybe we will have another contest at a lator date? I hope so. Thanks to Adagio for supplying the gift certificates for this FUN contest.

Great idea for a competition. It's so rare that I get to show off my teaware, which is possibly because I don't actually have any.
