I think we should create a thread for those who are new to puerh...and make it a sticky. We could add our info with links and keep this from comming up so often. All in favor.......

Great idea. Theres always people posting "nu 2 pu" threads all the time, I'm sure there is atleast one thread per day like that. It would be a good idea to list places to start, perhaps universaly excepted examples of quality pu to start with and where to get it, basic information, etc. etc.

As one of the newbies mentioned, I would find this resource very helpful.
A tutorial (loaded with photos) would be terrific as well.

True, but I know from my own experience that the search on the forum is pretty horrible at finding what your looking for.

Wonderful idea ... great potential resource. If ABx is willing to link to his fine paper on puerh that would be a real plus to get started. We could list like 5 good shu and 5 good sheng for newbies to try and keep it updated as the markets change.

ooh.. what about a veteran-guided newbie tea tasting? Old hands at puerh could suggest a few user-friendly teas, then newbies could post first impressions / brewing difficulties

That sounds great! This tutorial could be a nice starting point for disoriented newbies like me.
Salsero and cha cha cha ideas are also very good. In fact yesterdat I was thinking about ask you about your 5 favourite shengs and shous.

I think having this for most the tea threads would be a good idea actually. This would cut down on 'new to x tea' threads. But then again so would a link to a decent wiki or blog...

Maybe each person can write like a paragraph and post it in there. Like each person is in charge of a certain part of the explanation. If it dosent have some kind of pattern to it it will end up being a mixed up mess of knowledge that will be hard to follow.

I have thought about something like that in the past... a wiki where all us teachatters can add information, correct others information, etc. It would be nice but I'm not sure how well it would work in actual practice.

Wikicha? We could just add a page to it for each board's tea of choice. Each board would all draft it through a large thread, and once we all agreed on the facts we could post it.
