I love this tea as well, glad to see you liked it!

Unfortunately it appears Houde is sold out. When I first sampled that tea, it was also sold out of Houde, and one day while looking through "green cakes" randomly it was in stock again. You should probably e-mail them, and I'm sure they'll help you out if they can. If they cannot source you a cake, you could also try asking Scott from YSLLC to track one down in local market for you. He's very good at that.

Yes I bought a sample a while back, and ended up loving it. I was upset though that it was sold out, but when it became available again I was able to snag a cake before it sold out again. Hopefully they restock soon, I would like to pick up a few more.

Tell me your other faves from houde? I like the Xi-zhi lao ban zang cake too. I also just ordered samples of the chang tai cakes as well.

I made a list like this a few times for newcomers. Although I'm going to delete my recommendation of the 05 Peacock of Mengsong.

This tea, http://www.houdeasianart.com/index.php? ... cts_id=559, and this same tea, but stored differently http://www.houdeasianart.com/index.php? ... cts_id=799 are both fantastic for their age, and are decently priced. The dry stored version is, in my opinion superior of the two, but only slightly. This is the best way to see what different storage conditions can do to pu'er. Great learning experience, and delicious too! Great way to broaden and "train" your pallet.

This is another great example of dry storage at it's best. While a great tea, I think it's still overrated and overpriced. However, even with that being said, this is a tea you must taste at least once. It's tenacity will challenge you. The most active tea I've ever had at this age. Impressive.

I think this tea is very underrated. The compression is crazy on this one, so it requires a lot of patience when sampling. I think overall it's a pretty good tea for the price, and one of my favorite "cheaper" XZH releases of last year. It's been a while since I sampled it, but I seem to remember it being a very clean, smooth Menghai-type flavor. I am a huge fan of Youle and Bulang teas, and this one is an interesting mix of the two. Great blend, the flavors are fairly balanced and work well to play off one another as a very layered experience of sweet, and mellow from the Youle, and the strong, pungent, and bitter from the Bulang and ancient tree spring tips.

This brick is starting to show some pretty good aging, but it's still very strong. This tea will give your strainer a workout! Typical Baoyan chop affair, strong, woody, thick yet if you treat it right it's a perfect cold weather tea. Brutal cha qi on this one.

I absolutely love this tea. I'm very upset it sold out so quickly Sad. This one will also challenge your brewing skills, but the payoff is more than worth the effort. Great potential in this adolescent cake.

I don't think that it is overpriced for a sample. The price of the big tree is in the hundreds at the moment. Plus, it is nice to have a vendor willing to break apart some rare stock.
