Rooibos, maybe it's the vanilla

I picked up some rooibos vanilla ... I was concerned with the scent at first, it smelled strange - but the taste is great! Very vanilla though - and it seems most of the rooibos is "flavored" ... is the drink by itself, without flavoring ... gross?

Plain rooibos is quite nice as well. It just seems to pair well with many flavors. One of my favourites is the caramel rooibos which has a lightly sweet and creamy flavor. I also like the rooibos cocomint a great deal because it is like a smooth peppermint patty. I've found that since rooibos is so mellow it goes great with a large number of flavors. And the health benefits..wow

plain rooibos is hit or miss with a lot of people. i know a lot who complain saying it tastes like tobacco without some other flavor in there. personally i love it plain.

I've never had plain rooibos but do like the different flavors. It's a really good substitute for black tea when you don't want the caffeine. Try a rooibos chai if you're hesitant to make the leap. And if all else fails, milk and sugar can make any tea palatable.

++ rooibos chai is amazing.
rooibos is also one of the few herbals that don't curdle milk.

the vanilla initially smelled like tobacco to me until I tried it...then <3
rooibos does have a unique smell..but it makes a wonderful smooth black tea substitute when caffiene is not an option.

personally the rooibos caramel is my fav

i tried a vanilla rooibos and it was horrible. too much vanilla. i'm not really that into vanilla in the first place but it really killed the rooibos. i personally love rooibos and honeybush. either get a blended tea or what i like to do is brew up some straight rooibos and straight honeybush and then mix them. add a little sugar, very nice.
