.....the pu'er train is rolling into town. Total pu'er posts now trail perennial leader green tea by a mere hundred posts. Green tea will soon be a dot in the rear view mirror.
I just hope that the general public doesn't catch on to this thing of ours.

As a subscriber to the RSS feed, I believe it. All I see lately is TeaDay and some 2008 Sheng drinking contest, whatever the hell that is.

Re: Look out, green tea fans.....
It's great to see all this activity in the Puerh Forum, but green tea's glory has actually not been perennial. In fact for many months now, the Green Forum has been one of the quietest ... greens tend to be perennial, most exciting in the spring.tony shlongini wrote:.....the pu'er train is rolling into town. Green tea was a dead topic until it started coming to life some time in the first half of 2007, inspired by Chip and Space Samurai who were among very few weirdos who drank Japanese green tea. Space was blogging like crazy about everything Japanese, and after a while Scruff McGruff and others joined him and Chip started fielding more questions from sencha n00bs like me. Andy and I and a couple others were exploring Chinese greens, but not really posting in the forum, just chatting about them. I myself was one of the last holdouts, managing to avoid committing to Japanese greens until June of 2007, when the tidal wave was really building. Late in 2007 a lot of new members joined who were already experienced sencha heads and there was enormous discussion of vendors, matcha, and the impending 2008 Shincha.
I don't know which forum was in the lead early in 2007, but it was certainly not Green and even less so Puerh. I suspect it was Oolong. I remember there was a lot of discussion about oolongs, especially the lighter and medium oolongs from Anxi and Taiwan ... not too much familiarity with the Wuyi and Dan Cong types.
So, my tentative history of forum heydays:
- Oolong
Green
Puerh

Yeah, that's what I remember. When I joined there was a lot of talk about oolong, then sencha had its hey day, which received several complaints that we were dominating the forum, and now its all about the pu.Salsero wrote: So, my tentative history of forum heydays:
