2008 Yi Wu Mountain Bamboo Raw Pu-erh tea from YS

8g in 150ml pot. Smells a little bit like chlorine. Taste isn't much better. I stopped drinking after 5 infusions, I was bored of it. Qi was practically non-existent.

Astringency- little
Smoke- light
Dryness- little, middle and sides of the tongue
Mouthfeel- medium
Hui gan- little
Flavor- below average
Overall value- cheap pu, cheap taste
Purchase again- no

Edit: I just had a session with a different pu in the same pot, and I was getting similar results. I think the pot may be affecting things a little too much. I'll try this tea again tomorrow in a gaiwan.

Update: just tried it in a gaiwan with similar results. There's just something in the flavor of this tea that I find very unpleasant.

It is my understanding, which may prove false, that most melon tea is border tea. And given that De Hong is a border county it would be easily procured. But like I said... I could be wrong.

'07 Xiaguan gold ribbon tuo, in a broken yixing (yeah, I'm a tough guy)

This is a nice enough sheng, but I don't see how anyone awarded it a gold ribbon. Nonsense. It sports the typical XG neutron star compression and is alive with flavor, but has a slightly disconcerting sour component. It's not nearly in the league of the FT branded tuos. I'd stick with those.
