Hello everyone.
I'm a tea enthusiast from Iceland and I'm fairly new to this site. I've been lurking around here for some time, but there was a screwup with my registration until now. I've always been a tea drinker(my my mother once said it was the first thing I drank after breastmilk) but I've only been drinking loose leaf for a few months. I mostly drink black tea as of now, along with some green, but I'm hoping to venture into the world of Oolong and Pu-ehr with the help of this wonderful community.

The tea scene in Iceland
We have two real teashop chains here, each with several stores. Since this is mostly a coffee drinking nation both stores are very coffee oriented as well, and they also both have a few coffeshops. I frequently shop with one of those stores and they have a fair selection of teas. Iceland being close to the British aisles they focus on black tea and English teaware, but they stand up to the task pretty well. They have single estate Darjeeling, Assam and Ceylon, along with the main Chinese hong teas. They also have a few types of green and white teas and some mass produced, semi-western Japanese teaware that is pretty overpriced in my opinion. They only have one type of Oolong, Formosa Oolong, but they don't specify what type and I haven't tried it yet. The market is very small, by most standards, so it's understandable that pickings are rather slim sometimes. But I am very pleased to be able to buy premium tea without having to order online, since this is very expensive due to long shipping distances and the recent crash in the local economy. The latter has also caused prices to rise on imported goods, which might also effect the tea scene here.

Gosh, you sure are "North" of some us here in the sunny south. Sounds like you have a great opportunity to experiment, with two teashop chains right there for you. The pickins are so slim here, I am now asking the health department what it would take for me to open a tea business here in town. Let us know what you discover.
