Very nice. Where did you get your tasting set? I always want to do tests like this but don't have the tools to do it. Seeing as the tasting sets should be pretty basic and not fancy, I wouldn't want to pay too much.

And I second you telling us more about your parameters. How much leaf did you use? etc...

You should think about starting a blog :) (Not that there's anything wrong with posting.)

I am starting to think of TeaChat as a convenient substitute for a blog ... easier and near zero commitment. Also, posts in TeaChat seem to prompt more discussion than a blog usually does.

Back on topic: thanks for the notes Ed. Kudos.

I also found the Luxi interesting and tasting older than a 2006. From my notes: "dark mushroom, loam, rotted manure, vanilla." My notes are HERE. I also thought it tasted older than a 2006.

What parameters are you using ?
I'm using about 3-5g per set at 6 minutes. I rinse quickly first.
TomVerlain wrote:Since the 2005 7542 did not fare too well, what would you say are good scores, knowing the tea will understandably be bitter ?
When I call a tea bitter I mean its more bitter than normal in the process. Most of them did not come out bitter at all. I give 1-50 for aroma in cup, 1-50 in aroma in pot and 1-100 for taste. I don't account for "aging potential."

I like getting replies. I don't want to manage another blog.

I agree with you review, but I didn't get the mushroom and loam –not to say it wasn't there. However, I think this would be a great beginner pu-erh. I don't tend to be too through on competition tastings. The winners get gong fu sessions. I will do a gong fu on it before Wednesday. If it still does well I'll buy a brick or two... or ten.
