My New Humidor For Puerh

Postby CDS » Dec 18th, '08, 13:18

I mentioned to Drax in this:http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?p=76537&highlight=#76537 post that I was having a humidor built for my Puerh collection. It arrived today and I thought that I would post some photos.
Image

The inside which is Honduran Mahogany and is pretty much neutral as far as smell goes. No Pu in it yet. It is acclimating itself, which will take a couple of days.
Image

The active humidification system. Don't worry, it is not a mist system. It is an evaporation type system. No wet tea to worry over.

Controller. Sorry for the bad photo.

I expect to get many cakes in this, but only time will tell. For now, I have left the door gasket/seal off for airflow. I may have to add depending on how much the system has to run.

Heavy,
This guy sure has a great reputation in the cigar community. It claims to hold humidity at +/- 2% from top to bottom. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the comment!

Ed,
It was made by Bob Staebell w/Staebell & Associates. I sent you a PM with some other information. Bob is absolutely terrific and one of the nicest people you will ever talk with. I think he is very near where you are.

Heavy,
Yes. It is a circulation fan that helps pull air from bottom where the humidification is. It only runs when the humidifier runs. They are both very low cfm.

It's really impressive. But so small? Are they stackable?

I wish you the best of luck and more well aged puerhcha than it can hold.

The photos may look deceiving. I am sure that this one will hold around 18 tongs with some bricks & tuo's to boot.
But, yes, unfortunately, the size is always and issue with humidors. The bigger, the more money!

Wow, that is a dream pumidor.

I'm rather jealous now....

Just be sure to open it up every day for air exchange. Don't make the same mistake I did.
