Life-long tea drinker.
Science and engineering nerdy professional, currently located in the PNW.
Normally I slide in on a moonbeam, happy to join a convivial group with shared interests. I'm going low-key here, because I'm finishing up a couple of interesting projects that have been quite time consuming. Visits will be episodic.
Mum is a Glaswegian. So it goes that a love of tea is both culturally imbued and epi-genetic (an environmentally-induced, maternally-derived genetic characteristic passed on to offspring). Except that my sibs aren't tea-drinkers. *shrug*
Am a fan of certain single malts and whiskey blends from Scotland and Ireland.
I have a modest collection of Eastern teaware. Gong-fu isn't my style, but carefully prepared green teas in Yixing or Tokoname ware are enjoyed every bit as much as black tea taken in a distinctive Western porcelain tea set.
I'm a loyal fan of Staffordshire ceramics and fine porcelain. My signature tea set is Royal Doulton Glamis Thistle, a quaint, handpainted design that is much sought-after, equally tempered to stately luncheons replete with antique linens as a cream tea served in a peaceful cottage garden setting with like-minded company.
So I'll pull up a chair and set a spell, to study the offerings here, maybe serve up a factual tidbit or two alongside tea talk.
