Why is Adagio's Chamomile not packaged in tins?

I was about to order the chamomile but noticed the graphics show the amounts other than the sampler are packed in brown paper bags. Is there a reason for this?

I believe Adagio does that with all "fluffy herbals" as they are simply too light for their volume to be worthwhile selling in tins given that Adagio sells all of their teas by weight and not volume.

Just a guess... they may ALSO be less sensitive to short-term oxidization.

That is correct--we sell by weight and teas like chamomile and peppermint are extremely light. Also, it helps keep the cost down: bags are much cheaper, and we pass the savings on to you!

Ah ok. Thanks! I'm guessing unlike real tea leaves and what kodama mentioned, the herbals won't go bad if left in the bag?

Tea actually doesn't go bad, really--since it's a dried product. I generally don't like to drink tea that's more than a year old, but as long as you don't get mold in it, it will stay fresh. Keep the bag tightly closed, of course, just in case, but you should be fine with it.

Move the bag into a large food storage zip-lock bag or some type or resealable plastic container or an empty metal tea tin and your herbals will be fine long term.

Is this something new? Because a long while back my orders for peppermint, spearmint, cha cha and lemongrass teas arrived in tins. Am I correct in assuming that were I to reorder these teas they would not come in a tin or did I misread this?

We had switched nearly a year ago to aluminum-lined paper bags for some of our herbal teas. The inexpensive cost of the tea made it inpracticle to package it in the more-expensive tins. Also, since the teas in question are herbal, they are not as susceptible to air.
