Formosa Oolong

A friend of mine from school recently returned from a trip to Taiwan to visit his relatives. He brought back a 4 oz (guess) bag of formosa oolong to give to me since his uncle is in the tea trading business.

This is the first oolong that I have ever tried, and it is fantastic!!! The taste resembles that of green without that vegetal taste that most greens have (althout I don't mind that taste).

So I really just want to urge all tea drinkers out there that haven't tried oolong before...formosa oolong from Taiwan is a great place to start.

Teafanatic, was it a greenish oolong or darker...

If it's from Taiwan it's most likely the greenish kind.

It is the greenish kind...it has now become my amazing drink only every once in a while tea for a treat. It truly is fantastic.

you know formosa means "beautiful"? I haven't tried it yet, but I really like oolong teas and I'm dying to.

Oolong teas are the best if you ask me. Plus you can reuse them so much. I used one batch of leaves for 8 16oz cups today at work. Gotta love that oolong.

Although Formosa oolong is also known as oolong or wu long tea, it is actually closer to green tea category (you will notice the much greenish color compared to the blown/black in oolong tea. Their taste is totally different. Try them and you will know it. I personlly love oolong better.

It is close to the green category, but it has a flavor that stands out from green. It is much much different in my opinion. It is a great oolong tea.

Yap. i agreed with TeaFanatic.

Formosa oolong is really different in taste and in look also. Some people love it but others don't. its a matter of personal preferences of the taste. You will never know until you give it a try.

My supply has almost been depleted...and I know that there are plenty of stores that sell a formosa oolong, but has anyone found a really good one at any sites. Is adagio's really good? Upton? I want to find a good replacement until my friend goes back to Taiwan.
