I have a weakness for Asian tea tins in general, but I rarely drink the tea that comes in them. Teaware also though that is a functional collection mostly.

Adagio Darjeeling this morning followed now by Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Technically there are two cups. The obvious one, and the little one with the leaf in it.

Thanks for posting that link--now I REALLY want to hunt some of this tea down. ABx makes the good ones sound right up my alley, and I'm very curious.

I've moved onto an oolong for the afternoon. I don't know what what sort it is--the container is in chinese, and despite a long time on wikipedia, the only thing I can identify are the simplified chinese characters for oolong (乌龙茶).

Oops, I said "Maybe" before reading that tea (pu-erh) itself would be considered a TeaObject (which sounds like some kind of software component, doesn't it?)..... In which case.... I am most definitely a maniacal, obsessive collector of TeaObjects! Let's see, I also just got a tea scale, and a hygrometer for my pu-erh cabinet... and I collect the tea wrappers (like Augie)... so yeah.

This morning, 2008 Hao Ming "Jia Cang" Ripe Pu-erh.

Beauty, Form, and Function

by Angela Justice » Aug 14th, '08, 14:13

Some might call my tea tools a collection, but everything is beautiful and useful. None of the items sit on the shelf to collect dust. I have a wide selection filling our shelves: yixing teapots, english china, morroccan tea glasses, glass teapots, porcelain gaiwans, tea trays, scoops, bamboo cannisters, kettles

Certain teas lend themselves better to some tea ware and methods of tea preparation than others. My tikuanyin has it's own yixing pot. When I feel called to make herbal tisanes I usually prefer glass teapots and like to serve in my Moroccan tea glasses. When I make Keemun, I love to use my antique blue willow wedding china. I always use my gaiwan with newly picked pan fired green teas. My assorted tea tools and teas take up two full cabinets in my kitchen as well as sections of my dining room. My husband, who is a chef, frequently tries to convince me to cull the "collection" so he has room to put more pots, platters, knives, and pizza peels. I tell him they are good for our feng shui. :)

Yeah, my tea stuff has definitely reached "collection" status.

Ruining perfectly good dragonwell this morning. I'm really distracted for some reason, and this is the third time I've walked away and forgotten about my steeping tea. DW is NOT good when it has steeped for 10 minutes. BLECH!

I did manage to take a picture though:

In other news, Matcha the budgie is doing well today after his adventures. He is eating a nectarine and some bird seed. He chirped a little when Devil Dolls played on the iPod.

Bubba the cat has discovered him, but his cage is hanging from the ceiling. Bubba wants to know why there is a bird in a cage and not in his mouth:

It's okay, Auggy. It's that ol' "tea and mirrors" trick. You gotta watch that Sal!

;)

Yunnan Gold this morning to start then a nice (very nice) Nilgiri FTGFOP1. Now I need something else...thinking Shincha...

I can't think about collecting things. Trying to behave! I picked "maybe."

ABx has a great blog! He's shared a lot of info w/me regarding oolongs. Some of his suggestions are on my "to try" list. Gotta drink more tea & faster. I reeeally wanna try the Rou Gui. Thanx for the vendor list, Sal! I haven't heard of Golden Tea House & Grand Tea so I'll have to add them to my vendor notes. {Y'all thought I was joking when I talked about starting a tea journal.}
