Then where do I put the cups filled with water if not in the box?heavydoom wrote: so the styrofoam cups are inside the box??? if so, i would take the cups outside of the box. i think the tea is way too close to your water/moisture source.
There is no smell other than the normal smell of pu erh. I think it most likely is just discoloration, but I will continue to check on it every few days to make sure.
thanks, everyone
This article had some interesting things to say about wet storage.

Nice article. The author really does a lot of talking about great masters, he points out that he has tried some of aged puerhs, he does say a lot of things that we already know, but will he come to the point of tea storage? And, after all, what contact does it have to wet storage... at list to the kind of storage that guys here do in their homemade humidors or using plastic glasses with water? Ill keep reading the article it is well written but i think todays non chinese puerh society needs something more exact or, at list, less missleading.Drax wrote:This article had some interesting things to say about wet storage.

The Art Of Tea magazine has had some good articles, in English, more directed to the "how to store pu-erh at home" audience.
Yee, I'm curious.. I keep my tea in a humidor (really just a cabinet with some wet floral sponges in it, and a hygrometer). Do you know something that I (and the other non-Chinese-speaking humidor users) should know? I agree that there's not much info out there, just teahouse rumors (as the author of that article said).. so I'm open to hearing anything.
Thanks,
Dave

Sort of back to the original topic, or at least, one of the 'solutions' mentioned --
I just noticed one of my bings has similar splotches on it. They're arrayed in such a way (and only on the wrapper) that I'm pretty sure it's a staining issue, not mold.
The odd thing, though, is that I have two of the same type. But only one is splotching like this. Any ideas? (: They're stacked right one on top of the other, with the splotchy one on the bottom.
