I like the shape of this teapot. This shuiping style looks different. Anyone know where to find one of these?
Before asking where to find it, do you have a few thousands dollars to spend? :)
Yes sir!!! :)
Then go in Thailand, meet collectors and dealers and sooner or later you will find one. Remember, usually these teapots are in pairs of two.
Good luck!

I think understanding old pots is very hard.

To understand old teapots, the only way in my opinion is to handle many (authentic) pieces, which is difficult staying at home! :)

I'm at last feeling brave enough to buy a more expensive teapot. $200-400 range... but I think this is the range with the most potential ripoffs.

Frankly if I had $700 to spend I would not know where to go.

One of the best teapot I am currently using costed me less than 30 USD

It is not the price that makes a teapot of good quality or not. If you are happy with the ones you are using, you have already understood everything. :)

i use a $10 pot for dancong... many times the amount of tea loaded costs more than the pot

$200-$400 is a healthy budget to get a few nice pots

I agree if your goal is to have a nice looking pot to drink tea. But I guess part of tea is the experience. I tend to become obsessed with certain styles or shapes and inevitably there are not any easy to find modern reproductions.

And it's just fun to try new teawares and share them with friends. But in NYC there are not a lot of "stores" (I can think of three) prices and options become difficult.

From the Orchid Tea House; I think that "Early Qing Dynasty Jun-de Teapot" is really sexy; that teapot is one of the best if not the best, I would put money on that one too. :)

futurebird,

Check out the Yixing pots at http://www.t-drunk.com/ on East 7th street. *DISCLAIMER* the owner is a friend of mine. I don't think she lists the pots on the site but she plenty at the store. She does not fancy herself a pot expert but you should go in and check out the pots. She had a couple very nice shipiao last I looked.

Here is my one and only yixing pot. I picked it up in HK around 2011 at the Best Tea Shop store in HK's Center for about $120 USD. (I made it to a shop further out, but understandably, no one spoke English there.)

Any thoughts as to clay quality would be greatly appreciated.
