Have my tray replaced. The older one was such a pain when it comes to cleaning and the wood was rotting on the under side. oh well

My new-to-me Bizen Houhin. Also my Very First Bizen piece in general!
I love how all the colors are made by the play of the fire without any glazing at all.
Anyone? Just a signature I guess..
Now, to add some Gyokuro..
Ahh! Sweet Gyo Goodness

A very good choice! I like and use Bizen a lot and I think beer, sake, and tea taste great when served/brewed in Bizen vessels and consumed from Bizen cups. You may want to consider some cups as your next purchase.iannon wrote:My new-to-me Bizen Houhin. Also my Very First Bizen piece in general!
There is one drawback I have encountered which is why I have recently put much of my Bizen in storage. Some Bizen is so thick and heavy that I find it impractical and disfunctional in daily use. I had one Bizen guinomi (sake cup) that was so heavy that hot sake cooled down much too quickly. I have other thinner Bizen that work out much better and are used regularly.
I've found that Tambayaki has very similar qualities and is often very thin and light, which makes them very suitable for high quality sencha, cold beer, and hot sake.

Last week I received these two wonderful cups from Splitfire pottery. A large yunomi cup, and a handled mug.
Could not capture the beauty of these very well in the photo. The yunomi is extra special. I love the contrast between the inner and outer glazes.

With only a two dimensional photo, very hard indeed to capture; best appreciated through frequent direct contemplation, with tea inside!laura99 wrote:The yunomi is extra special. I love the contrast between the inner and outer glazes.
