An Ji Bai Cha this morning, from the amazing Tea Habitat green tea tasting set. It's been in my refrigerator unopened for months, and today I finally brought it out, took some photos of the leaves, poured the hot water over....and then the sun came out, after heavy overnight rain, and tea was forgotten as I ran outside to catch the raindrops

Image

so there is no review today.....as I really abused the poor leaves.

If only you would've grabbed the tea on the way outside, would've been a heck of a morning!

The lovely thing about An Ji Bai Cha is that the forgotten tea was still drinkable when I finally ran out of raindropped subjects as the sun retreated again behind clouds. Just not review-worthy.

A very good grade of Thai Nguyen tea! Lots of it here, but this is a very good quality. No bitterness and sweet with huigan, and much smoother drinking (less astringency). Higher leaf grade too (smaller leaves). I can see how Vietnam drinks this stuff every day. It's easy drinking and forgiving, as long as it isn't too hot or strong.

To Tead Off: Thanks for suggesting Maiko's Gyokuro. I ordered the sampler plus 3 others. Very very VERY enjoyable!! I'm going to order some Sencha that is on sale. Ralph suggested a couple that he thinks I would like, given that I am a Gyokuro drinker.
They are Maruyama and Kyo no Tsuyu. Have you had these?
Thanks again.

I haven't had either of those senchas.

How does one quote another poster showing all of the original formatting? I cannot figure it out.

so, it's kind of a hack, but you can do this:
when you hit the reply button, you start off with a url like this:
http://www.teachat.com/posting.php?mode ... =6&t=14327
and then you can build it up from there. change mode=reply to mode=quote, and then you can append the post number.
so for your post, if you hover over where it says "Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?", you will see this url: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 20#p285942
where 285942 is your post number.
putting it all together, you can go to this url:
http://www.teachat.com/posting.php?mode ... 7&p=285942
(mode=quote, and adding &p=postnumber)

here's quoting i think the first post in the thread which has some formatting to show that this works:
http://www.teachat.com/posting.php?mode ... 7&p=176356

Share what green you are drinking currently ... however please also share in TeaDay's daily topic.

Feel free to "illustrate" your offering.
is this how you're supposed to use the forum? hell no
please either change the forum back or at least give us a fully featured default theme that comes with phpbb. i'm getting tired of this broken theme

edit: you can apply this same approach to edit your posts.
for example, i'm editing my post right now (which is post number 285947) by going to:
http://www.teachat.com/posting.php?mode ... 7&p=285947

Zairai sencha from O-Cha--first sencha day in a couple of weeks, and really nice to the last infusion. Delicious way to start a beautiful day.

Vietnamese high mountain, wild tree Assamica green from Ha Giang province (close to southern Yunnan). Since this is a lot like the maocha consumed in Yunnan, I decided to try brewing it in a high profile Jianshui pot. It seems sweeter and milder in Jianshui. I'm using a small amount of leaf (1-2 g) and going for longer steeps. Very pleasant and light soup. This tea has serious cha qi and always puts me to sleep!

Two packets have just landed on my desk: 250 grams of Mao Feng and 250 grams of Longjing. Both 2016 pre Qing Ming.

Guess who is going to be a happy person sipping fresh green tea...

Zairai sencha from O-Cha. Still have to finish off last year's tea before I can think of fresh 2016 teas, but I've been more careful about storing and opening the 2015 teas (refrigerated, vacuum sealing portions of teas that I drink slowly), so my 2015 Zairai sencha is still quite delicious.

Still, a little envious of the fresh preQingMing teas. Just a little.

My wife and I just order this much green tea every year which also gets refrigerated before consumption. It usually lasts until the end of summer when we move back full time to oolong and pu'er teas.

Big Northern Vietnamese porcelain pot brewing 2015 Thai Nguyen Thom Ngon green tea from Chinatown in Saigon, Vietnam, the largest Cantonese community in Vietnam. I bought a 500g pack with help from a local friend. This tea really seems best brewed the local way, like many Chinese greens...long brews in porcelain or glass. Very pleasant tea to finish the night with!
