I`m drinking the DA XUE SHAN (2014) from Bannacha
http://www.bannacha.com/en/92-da-xue-shan.html
I really enjoy it ... it is very "full", wonderfull mouthfeel, not boring, very sweet with a interesting and strong but not too strong bitterness, and has such a great price by the way.
Astringency - (some)
Smoke - (none)
Dryness-(mouth) - (what is that?)
Mouthfeel - (heavy)
Hui gan - (maybe some?)
Flavor - (good)
Overall value - (good)
Purchase again - (maybe)

Re: Official Pu of the day
It is exactly that, dryness. Some teas give a very dry feeling to the mouth after swallowing them. Wine can have a similar feel (which is usually the opposite of sweetness in the case of wine.)TaoTeaKing wrote: Dryness-(mouth) - (what is that?)
Some teas have an almost juicy mouthfeel to me, but some feel very dry. This can sometimes tie in with astringency, in which case they come off with a very paper-like dryness often times.
Re: Official Pu of the day
Next day, I continued with this tea, and to my great surprise, the smoke subsided and I was finally introduced to the actual flavor of the tea. The bitterness also eased up and I was left with a very pleasant tea that was smooth, clean tasting, and satisfying. If only I didn't have to endure 10 brews of smoky/bitterness as an appetizer, before eating the main course.Tead Off wrote:2011 4 Peaks Lao Man E Summer from TU. Almost 5 years old and has not lost its smokiness nor bitterness. In fact, it might be worse. I keep asking myself what possessed me to buy this? This cake is going back into the storage for another 5 years.

@Tead Off
i still have some of my sping sample... i can`t remember how many steeps i did, i think i had to quit a little bit too early ...
Your post motivates me to try it again.
I`m happy for you, that you finally kind of "made peace" with the tea.

2010 Jingmai. What a nice surprise taking this out of storage for a 5 year tasting. The flavor seems to have erupted in this cake filling my mouth, tongue, and throat with a pleasantly aromatic, herbaceous taste and strong mouthfeel and finish. Very good energy. I paid $15 for this cake some years ago. The leaves are very jungly looking, big and fat.

10 rinses next time?Tead Off wrote:If only I didn't have to endure 10 brews of smoky/bitterness as an appetizer, before eating the main course.
Re: Official Pu of the day
lol. One of my rinses was a 30 second shaking of the teapot!Jaymo wrote:10 rinses next time?Tead Off wrote:If only I didn't have to endure 10 brews of smoky/bitterness as an appetizer, before eating the main course.

I thought about that recently more often, because before i read it in this thread i was not at all familiar with this concept in regards to tea ... only wine.TaoTeaKing wrote:Jaymo wrote:It is exactly that, dryness. So, my question is... does it happen, that you have a tea wich is super-sweet but at the same time you would call it "dry"... ?
I think someone who comes from the wine world could maybe call "bitterness" (in our tea) "dryness" ...

Really nice tea, smokey, nice throat feeling... liqueur ... dried fruits, hazlenut. My throat is almost glued after drinking a cup of this...
Re: Official Pu of the day
2013 Autumn Ye Xin from Yunnan Sourcing today. Dry leaves are very aromatic. Lasting aroma in the cup after drinking....quite nice. Hay, grain, honey with a touch of mushroom. Some of Scott's autumn pus seem like spring teas, however this does taste like an autumn tea. It does not impede the satisfaction though....especially for the price. Good stuff.
Re: Official Pu of the day
2006 Jiang Chen tuocha from Wistaria via Tokyobob. This is a zhengshan Yiwu. Still exhibiting bitterness and smoke. Needs several brews for the tea to introduce itself. This one still has a ways to go, so back in the barrel it goes.

Chawangshop 2015 He Kai raw pu'er. Very mild tasting and very nice for people who like Yi Wu type raw pu'er teas.
