Kirameki and YM Kaoru LE - first order from O-cha!

Moriuti Yoshio Asamushi, Sugimoto Hariuchi Asamushi, Shincha (Asamushi) Kunpu, and Shincha (Fukamushi) Houryoku - from Shirakata Denshiro Shoten

(Den's tea only offered just 2 shinchas this year--though I ordered them both, I was hoping for more, so I ordered from their parent company in Japan directly!)
Very clever!

Yeah; Den's is great, they helped me arrange it. After all http://www.shirakata.co.jp is all in Japanese. Google translate works pretty well, but it still took a bit of detective work.

I also picked up: http://steepster.com/teas/shirakata-den ... oka-oolong
(This is Google's best attempt from Japanese at the description) - Oolong from Honyama, Shizuoka!

Do you managed to place an order on Shirakata site?
How do you do that?
Even with Google Translator it's nearly impossible to understand anything because the forms are still in japanese.

Actually, I found this page and then it wasn't too difficult:
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... rmd%3Divns

I'll post the relevant information from that page below.

Basically, just email them the products you want to order (just include the product Number, like No. 5112 or something like that) and the other relevant information. They should reply within a day or two and then you can fax your payment information to them. I emailed to let them know I had faxed it, and they confirmed.
You have to order a lot, because EMS is the only shipping method available, and it costs 1900 JPY for up to 1kg of product, so shipping is expensive. However, EMS is nice because it is fast and insured at least.
Here is the rest of the relevant info from their website:

Why does Ippodo, Horaido, Marukyu-Koyamaen, not advertise and sell shincha, to the general public online, they have shincha, I know from a friend, but they do not advertise it, nor sell it online.

@Oni:
From what I know Ippodo, Horaido, Marukyu-Koyamaen sell online, you only need to send a inquiry about shincha.

Wojciech Bonkowski even posted on his blog Marukyu-Koyamaen's Shincha Shuei 2009 review: http://blog.polishwineguide.com/2009/08 ... i-shincha/

And here's a direct response I received from Horaido:
Thank you very much for your inquiry about Shincha.
It will be the second week in May, but it depends on the weather from now.
do you know the indicative price and the region from which will
> come .. I wonder from which cultivar will be made?

I do not know right now, because Shincha price is moved with condition,
quality, harvest and so on.
Cultivar will be Yabukita in many cases but I will buy new teas not with
cultivar, but with just quality.
Sincerely,
Nagahiro Yasumori
I’ll give them a try for sure !

Ippodo does sell Shincha online, they just never pre-announce it or have it open for pre-orders. You just need to visit their website when its out, which is for a somewhat short time.

Yes I remember seeing it last year after it actually came in stock for them. No presales as has been mentioned.

The only shincha out right now is from Kagoshima, they haven't harvested in Uji yet. They should be harvesting in Shizuoka right about now though...
