IshopO light roast dong ding.
Not bad, but I'd have to say it is fairly average.

Beipu Oriental Beauty, also from IshopO.

I like this one much more and would get it again in larger quantities.

Tis a sad teaday. Forgot my kettle base for work

Not as bad as it seems though since I only work 5 hours a day. I'll live. :|

The Nutrition Facts" label concludes with "MADE IN KOREA" (their caps). I don't know if that means grown there or processed from imported teas, but their web site and the brochure I picked up at the shop describe tea estates in Korea. I did note two different sets of packaging for the teas there, some of which are clearly produced by an outside company--perhaps those are the teas grown in Taiwan?

Infusion #2 of a Jasmine Oolong. Very floral, but not as good as the first infusion.

I'm drinking Pouchong from an Adagio sample. It's quite tasty but I still prefer a good TGY...

I am drinking 4 of houde`s high mountain oolong that had handmade description, Li Shan Tsui Feng, Ali Shan, Shan lin shi, Si Ji Chun. Unfortunately Da Yu Ling sold out before I got my hands on it, but this year I had a stallar example of it from DT it was DD tea associations Ta Yu Ling Kao Leng cold summit, that tea was in the really big league, one of the highest standarts of green oolong I have ever tasted, along with Shen yun TGY (which I will be reordering in a couple of days).

Hankook supposedly has their own farms in Korea and I doubt they import tea from Taiwan.

I looked at the pics of the tea and they do look like Balhyocha. But, in your description and notes you go on to say how similar it is to black tea. I can also see the similarity with the Oriental Beauty. I believe the label 'oolong' is given because of the oxidation process. It seems like a marketing term rather than an actual appelation.

Last I had heard, they did import some from Taiwan for their USA site ... but I don't see those teas on their site anymore. This was several years ago. In fact I had one of them and it was pretty good.

As best as I understand, it is not truly an oolong tea, but although it is on the more highly oxidized end of the spectrum, it is more oolong-like than green tea like or black tea like. The "oolong" label is perhaps more user-friendly for a western clientele than 'yellow tea', which would lead to expectations of a very different tea experience.

Today I'm trying some OB from IshopO. My mind is everywherer bu on my tea today, though. I keep on brutally overbrewing it. Sigh

Wild Formosa Assam Oolong from Red Blossom - very interesting tea but also rather expensive. Went for the 6gm sample.
