Are you referring to Shu / Shou pu'erh or are you referring to a method that's used to cook pu'erh?

Your question is very vague and your comments are rather... eerr... how should I put it.... t~w~i~s~t~e~d...

Cheers!

If anything shu is underrated, and not that widely consumed (at least here in the west).

Well, it is at least cheap, but it doesn't improve too much with age. It also doesn't taste too good and the young stuff really dries out the mouth.
So... -∞

I think quality tea is quality tea wether it is shou or sheng. I think sheng is a pretty difficult tea when young, but shou is very easy when young. Given the choice of a high end sheng from 2009 or shou, I would choose to drink the shou now. Aging does improve it.

I don't drink mini touchas or anything like that, so perhaps I am spoiled. I have only tried a few pretty crappy cooked teas, but a fairly large amount of not ready for prime time shengs.

Got a chance to taste early 1980s 7581 the other day and it was heavenly.

+2  I second that. The chaqi and yun from the tea is simply amazing. Very few shu actually comes close to the 80s 7581. The Sheng Hsiang aroma from the 7581 is a signature character for the 7581 which has been highly sought after by tea enthusiasts all over!

Cheers!! :D

I've had some extremely crappy shu, and some amazing shu. And lots in between. Unfortunately, in general, the crappy stuff is the shu that you find at grocery stores, mainstream tea companies, etc.

Also, some people just don't like it. Just like how some people have a sweet tooth and some people like single malt Scotch, some like shu and some don't!
