Already discussed on the Yixing Sticker thread, but figured I'd make it official...

Got incredibly lucky and found this late 70's Factory 1 85ml Biandeng online for next to nothing. Hong Ni? Hong Qingshui Ni? Hong Ni/Zisha blend? Not sure, but whatever the clay is is pretty sexy. Still haven't decided to use it, or leave the sticker on and stash it away for purely investment value. The lid fit is quite loose (as many 70's pots are), and I've been thinking about experimenting with wrapping the lid skirt in silver wire to fill in the gap (since silver is back down to reasonable prices these days). If I do, I'll definitely post pics!

Hi Tingjunkie,

Nice find! The clay looks a bit funny. It looks like 70s Yi Xing red clay mixed with something else, maybe a small percentage of purple/brown clay.

If you could post some photos of inside the teapot and inside the lid, I could tell you more.

Regards.

I don't think they are intentionally mixed. More like they were the mixed ore as natural.

These types are Mt. Huanglong Hongni type, the texture quite follows Zini while color turns out to be red. From my understanding, Mt.Huanglong Hongni types are very porous and can have a clay smell when new. Whereas Zhaozhuang area (including Chuanbu) Hongni types are rather dense and heavy.

2. Late-70s, also 6-cup..somewhat thick wall. Using him for Gushu type, the clay is pretty dense and somewhat Zhuni feel.

A bonus pot, 60s..4-cup. This I use for green tea these days. Super thin, the clay is very good 'Fen Tai (tender clay)'. It came from Japan.

Went outside, beautiful fall day. Took some photos with the sun beaming down. Figured the sunlight make my photos look better. The foo pot is becoming much darker. Been brewing shu puerh in it since I got it. The lil lotus frog is new and I've paired light roasted tgy with it.
