You are not posting the photos that really matters (i.e. inside the pot)!

Correct. Why would I? I represented it for what it is. Not what someone guesses it is from the outside. Trust me when I say that the seal, the lid, and the up close of the clay likely made loinguyen rethink his position on it. Cheers.

No one wants to be wrong about their purchases, but you are not giving anyone a fair chance to evaluate the pot that you posted. Trust is not the issue, visual examination, is the issue. Taking anyone's word is often proven to be a bit foolish, especially in this field, and especially through photos. Everyone is here to learn, right?

First off, it was never represented to me as a Qing period pot. It was a cheap acquisition made locally by an antique dealer. The Qing analysis was a separate analysis by two folks of whom I consider experts in the field. loinguyen was the third person to offer his opinion as an absolute, but only based on limited information (the outside of the pot). The others were shared the inside of the pot. So, for your consideration and study, here are some inside photos! And maybe loinguyen can offer up a better explanation of what it is that leads him to thinking this is 20th century?!? I'd surely like the education.

Here's a photo of late 60s-early 80s F1 shui ping from collection. After all that on that one pot... here's something other forumites can identify with.

Thanks. The large pot (200cc) you're talking about is early 80s green sticker. The spout is not on there very straight, actually tilted forward substantially. Rumor has it that new potters did this.

that is interesting, considering the standardness of spout molding in F1.

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the age of this pot or whether the clay is actual zisha? I found this hiding in the back of a junk shop in Hong Kong. The owner didn't have much to say about it, except that it's "around 40 years old" and that he picked it up as part of a larger antique shop's liquidation. The pot seems to be much better quality than the usual stuff I see around the usual antique shops passing for Yixing, and the price at less than $20 seemed worth it. The walls aren't very thick, the clay has a similar feel to the expensive new Yixing's I've seen in other teashops. It's clean and has a faint clay/sandy smell. The spout has one hole. The lid fits perfectly on top, and it pours well enough. The pot is in excellent condition except for a hairline crack on the lid (unfortunately I didn't notice until later).

From what I've read, I doubt it's as old as the seller said. Anyone have an idea, does this look like something made in the last 10 years?

Can anyone tell how this was made (half-hand made, slip cast, etc.)?
