Thanks for the response.Tead Off wrote:This tea boat is by Kim Eung Chul, one of the Korean potters on my TeaMerchandiser listing. Unfortunately, all have been sold out. I'm working on trying to get some more made.

Re: The unofficial/official Korean Teaware Topic
Here is a teacup from Myung Jae-Hyun, a wonderful potter we met last spring through the auspices of Arthur Park's Tea Tour Korea. It has quickly become a personal favorite. Here, it's hosting some 1999 Kunming Factory Red from the sadly departed Origin Tea.

Is the lovely pink/purple tone just the lighting or part of a very subtle multicolor glaze?
Re: The unofficial/official Korean Teaware Topic
It's the lighting and my photo newb-hood. It's actually more grey and tan.

There's no reason to blame photo skills for reflections and lighting that enhances the appearance of a piece of teaware--as long as you're not trying to sell it. That's one of the joys of owning a lovely ceramic piece: you get to use it in different conditions and see it express different 'personality' in different settings--something you don't get to do in a gallery or a museum.iGo wrote:It's the lighting and my photo newb-hood. This cup doesn't have a yellow cast unless the sun is streaming through it, but I worked hard to capture that yellow and wouldn't consider it a photographic fault: sometimes a cast of light is a feature and not a bug.

iGO,
I love seeing your Korean wares! Especially the items picked up in the Tea Tour Korea trip! I almost signed up, but knew I wouldn't have enough vacation saved up to go on the trip!

Re: The unofficial/official Korean Teaware Topic
Thanks debunix.
AdamMY, glad you like the photos. I'll be posting some more.
As you may know Arthur Park is planning another TeaTourKorea for 2015. I'm not sure if this will be the last tour he is leading, but I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Korean tea and ceramics. Arthur is extremely knowledgeable about both AND is extremely well connected with those who make tea and pottery there.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Better yet, PM Arthur under the associated topic.
Cheers.

Another favorite from last years Tea Tour Korea. Sorry, I don't know the potter. My wife picked this "Butterfly" pot out at one of our stops.

Those are stunning tea wares, iGo! I particularly love the 'Butterfly' teapot and that teacup by Myung. Thanks for sharing!

Re: The unofficial/official Korean Teaware Topic
My new Hong Seong-Il wares arrived on Saturday! I've been busy experimenting ever since, but I wanted to make sure to snap some pictures of this pot before I put tea in it. It's unglazed porcelain, and has some really interesting yohen/clay effects going on with the surface. Plus a poem on both sides that sadly, I cannot read ...
