Hello Fellow Cha Ren - Greetings from Japan

by chinese.tea.fiend » Jun 22nd, '10, 08:36

Wow, great site, just stumbled across it......

My name is David, I'm a Gaijin living in Japan.

Where I currently live, I walk past tea fields every day.

My favourite teas however are not Japanese. Give me a Taiwanese Gao Shan Oolong anyday..... or a Chinese Wuyi Rock Oolong.

Having said that I don't mind Japanese green tea, and other traditional Japanese teas including (it's the beginning of hot and humid summer here) Japanese Mugi Cha (Barley Tea)

Well, enough blah blah blah from me...........

Just wanted to say hi, great to be here.......

D

Welcome, David! My granddaughter is in Japan; she's been there over two years and leaves there (much to her sorrow) on July 22. Her parents are winging their way right now to visit her for ten days before she returns. :)

Which prefecture are you in?

Wow, what a warm welcome :)

Thanks everyone.

I'm in Shizuoka-Ken.... right in the heart of green tea land :) And quite close to Mount Fuji.. maybe you can see me from your cave Mr Chip ? :P

I wish I had my Chinese tea set here with me but right now it's in Australia, so I guess its a good opportunity to work on my appreciation of Japanese o-cha.. come to think of it, I did enjoy a lovely shin-cha about a week or two ago, I was staying at a self-sustainable farm community nearby here, and after a hard day toiling in the fields an elderly lady offered me a cup of their home-grown biodynamic shin-cha.. must say, it was pretty damn fine, or perhaps just how it tasted after working so hard that day :P
