25+ years of tea drinking before I found this place, but most of that time it was pretty well confined to just a few teas, and not often at that.

Happy Birthday indeed!

And finishing the tea day with a bit of Dan Cong--2009 Kan Tou or Stone Wall Edge from Tea Habitat, after a nice sencha start, and some oolong middle.

I started serious tea about the same time I found TeaChat (mid this year).
Found TeaChat while googling for tea info :)

Tea drinker for 64 or 65 years before finding TeaChat. Found TeaChat while Googling for Tea info. I can't remember exactly what I was Googling for - Tea or Teaware.

It certainly has been interesting and fun. :D

Happy Birthday, auhckw!

I guess since I was a little child. My mother wasn't a teaware maniac or always looking for the best teas, but we drank tea a lot. Several times a day.
And going into teashops with her and smelling all that wonderful tea and trying out new ones, are some of my better childhood memories.

I was Foghorn Leghorn, actually. Well, no. I had been drinking tea for a little more than 10 years. Decent tea, not excellent tea. I had experienced good tea in Japan about that time but wasn't mail ordering it. Mostly black teas and occasionally oolong. I guess I got into oolong consistently about 5 to 7 years ago, but again, it was the rishi or harney and sons ilk. Some of which really isn't horrible at all. Then I discovered Floating Leaves in Seattle which led me on a broader search. I believe it was a search for tokoname kyusu that delivered a search result from TC. There was so much eye-candy I had to join right away. Now, all my other interests and hobbies are subservient to TEA.

It's a sad day here because I just quaffed down the last of my miyabi. Now I am sencha-poor and that is no place to be.

I've been drinking tea for 25+ years before finding tea chat, but I only became a serious tea drinker (and not so serious compared to some here) AFTER finding tea chat. The Tea Muse introduced me to pu-erh and after that I found the chat, and it have been tea crazy ever since. So if you want to go by serious tea drinking, it has been less than a year.
:P

Happy Birthday auhckw!

I was a total loose leaf greenhorn. The day I bought my first bag of loose leaf tea(earl grey cream I believe) was the day I joined teachat. I bought the stuff and realized that I had no idea how to brew it. In my search for brewing suggestions, I found and joined teachat.

After that tea became a passion.

Another greenhorn here! I discovered TeaChat 2-3 months into my loose leaf tea journey. I think I was searching for info on japanese tea cups (right place to be for that :)). I did not even realize for a while that it was associated with Adagio, which was also a good find.

I did drink tea prior to this. Mostly Tazo and RofT for a few years, but its not something I ever even thought to search on the internet for.

Happy Birthday to auhckw!

I drank teabag tea for years, then decided to try loose-leaf. I ordered tea from Adagio but didn't discover TeaChat until a few months later.

Mao Feng Noir from Tao of Tea in my cup this morning.

I had been occasionally drinking teabag tea for a year or so but i voted less than one year I had only been drinking "real" tea for a month or so when i found teachat. I was doing an internet search probably for yixing when i found this site, i lurked for a few days/ a week then i had a question i wanted answered so i joined.

I am still less than one year drinking "real" tea, but i have come a long way from the little metal tea ball i started out with.

Man, bunch of old folks roaming these parts.

*ducks*

TeaNeophyte indeed. Found my way by Google.

And actually, speaking of age differences here... I freakin love it. I think it's awesome that we have such a diverse group of tea drinkers. Such a wealth if knowledge.

I was a greenhorn - I came to fine tea without even passing through the teabag stage. A friend took me to Harney's Tasting Room in Millerton, NY, where tasted a number of teas and bought 2 - a flavored green and a flavored black. Back home they didn't taste as good - I was using a teaball and too-hot water whereas Harney's used a large strainer and the right temperature water.

Two months later I was sick with a major respiratory ailment. The first day I couldn't do more than drink tea. By the second day I was on the internet looking for a better way to brew tea. I found Adagio, which is just down the road from me, and ordered an Ingenuitea. It was here the next day, and my Harney's tea tasted much better. So I went back online and ordered a Utilitea and some samples. They arrived the next day. Then I discovered Tea Chat and here I am 3 years later, opening up the latest OTTI.

In my gaiwan this morning - tai ping hou kui.
