Fear of storing my tea (puerh) improperly; fear of running out of tea (everything but puerh).
Drinking some grandpa style Bilochun while I study today.

Den's cheapies are practically bomb-proof! What you have to watch out for is clanking the spout into your cup during pouring. I think the spout would win this battle.kitkat wrote:I just got my first kyusu and even it's only Den's cheapie I love it so much I now have fear of teaware breakage. Began the TD with Sencha 7132 from Umami-Chaya and now Sencha the Ultimate from Zencha with the Mrs. ... virtually finished off both selections. Served up in the Eiichi Hagi SO SnowDrift ... which reminds me, still a few spots open for the Eiichi ROCK. http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=14948

Fear nothing!
I don't have any of the fears on the list & at present there is nothing I fear.

Fear of teaware breakage tops the list for me, but sometimes it includes a fear of messing up my brewing, especially when dealing with a very expensive tea that I only have a sample of.
Visiting my parents and grandmother this weekend, so been drinking coffee for my caffeine fix.

Improper tea storage because I don't want to buy good tea and then go to drink it several months later to find stale tea.
My only fear not tea related is public speaking. I hate public speaking. I would rather be shot than give a speech
tie luo han in my cup today.

Oddly this would be near the top of my list as well, but I somehow embrace this fear and do it because I most oddly enjoy it as well ...brad4419 wrote:My only fear not tea related is public speaking. I hate public speaking. I would rather be shot than give a speech
For me, it seems many things that may cause one degree or another of fear (or at least a healthy dose of respect), also brings satisfaction or exhilaration. I am a bit of a thrill seeker, perhaps that would explain this.
A weird one ... live growing molds and cultures can literally make me shudder.

It's pretty tough, and a great Kyusu to start with. I did, however, manage to drop the lid on mine and chip itChip wrote:Den's cheapies are practically bomb-proof! I think my biggest fear is spending more that I am conformable with on a tea and then not liking in (or not brewing it correctly). I am probably missing out because if this, but slowly coming around.
Teaware breakage is on the list, as well as running out of tea. I guess that is why I have to make so many tea orders

Fear of brewing it wrong.
Especially when I brew a praised tea for guests... oh the horror!
Fear of tea of improperly stored tea would also contribute to that

Fear of breaking teaware is right at the top...I´ve lost a few teapots and two of them really hurt
Also fear of running out of tea...or at least running out of my favourites is quite high
And there´s the fear that the vendor didn´t store their teas properly...especially when I buy local. It´s amazing how well brown matcha sells in North America
I´m drinking Yame Gyokuro from O-cha today

I have seen plenty of camouflage olive drab matcha that really tasted even worse than it looked.entropyembrace wrote:And there´s the fear that the vendor didn´t store their teas properly...especially when I buy local. It´s amazing how well brown matcha sells in North America
Masashi karigane from O-Cha this evening.

My TeaFears are (in no particular order) breaking teaware; brewing tea wrong; storing tea improperly; buying tea that had been stored improperly or is otherwise subpar; not being able to purchase a favorite tea again; and running out of tea.
I've only broken one cup, but it was my favorite and had a lot of sentimental value-- so now I'm even more obsessively careful than I was previously! (And the breakage wasn't even my fault; a box I was shipping back home was opened in transit and some of my stuff was knocked around. )
Yunnan black tea all day today, and probably all night, as I have a considerable amount of homework.

Improper brewing probably outweighs the other fears...Oh, to own a Zojirushi one day would be divine.
Teaware breakage is probably my least fear, since I do not use my prized pieces...I'll share a funny teashop story, though. While inspecting the lid to a Beehouse teapot, it popped off and caused a domino effect of clanking teawares. Luckily, my boyfriend and I caught everything in midair. Nothing was harmed except our pride...

If I'd fear about the tea itself or my brewing that really would reduce the joy of tea.
But I fear about breaking teaware - I am clumsy sometimes. That is why I have not the heart to buy real expensive teaware even if I like it a lot. I'd really be nervous using eggshell thin porcelain.
Oh and a little bit I fear that my greens could go stale - so that’s about storing and having too much of it open at once.
A real great teaweekend so far. Yesterday I enjoyed High Fired Tikwanyin from Mandarin's tearoom - this one was a pleasure from the first to the last brew. Real high quality tea.
Today I had some Shu Puerh for breakfast - 2007 Bu Lang Shan from YS - a sample I like; it doesn't smell bad for me like other Shu do.
It was followed by the rest of 2007 Xiaguan FT Number 4 from YS - this time I liked it much more. Taking more leaves and precisely watching the steeping time worked out well - thanks to nickE for the brewing advice

Ah, glad it worked out for you! After reading this, I decided to give it a try myself. For being a 2007, it hasn't mellowed much. If you like to use lots of leaf (like I do), then you really have to watch those first few infusion times.Marco wrote: It was followed by the rest of 2007 Xiaguan FT Number 4 from YS - this time I liked it much more.
