You are living my dream too, one day I hope I can find a tea tree in the wild and harvest my tea.

We picked the tea roughly here:

Sorry man, for some reason I had the idea that you were visiting Yunnan province. (Stop day dreaming Gerard! Lol).

Cheers :)

That surely sounds like a good idea for a eco-friendly tour operator. A week on China's countryside, featuring picking and making your own green tea. I'd go for it ! :)

Well, I took my bicycle and went back there to pick some more. Took me about 40minutes to get there and this time I made a few pictures of other plants growing in close proximity to the tea. Any help identifying them would be appreciated.

here they are

The middle one looks like a wild species of azalea, perhaps a deciduous species.

The top one looks like a wild rose species ... hmmm, reminds me of the wild rose the PA Game Commission introduced that took over ... this was a lesson learned, though too late. Introducing nonnative wild species of plants can be disastrous.

Looks amazing, really nice experience. Too bad this is impossible in Japan, i don't think there are any wild tea trees :) But this makes me want to plant 2-3 trees in our garden, will be fun

Yixing was very famous place for tea in fact, during Tang dynasty Yang Xian (another name of Yixing) tea was no.1 of China (after Song dynasty, Wuyi took over)..they still make pretty decent teas like Yang Xian Xue Ya, Yixing Hongcha.. :)

I always wondered what it feels like to brew pure leaves without wok-frying..(like Shen Nong's brewing technique) :D

Living so near, at least one has a chance..

Make more of it and sell it to me, and dry it with cold air, do not let the hairdryer run on hot air. I would gladly taste some of this rare treasure of nature.
