Re: Poll: How many grams?
Selecting 2, because the answer could be between 2 and 5, but usually for the young powerful stuff it's on the lower end.
Re: Poll: How many grams?
Hard to say, depends on how strong the Pu... but for my rule of thumb
1g:30ml - raw
1g:20ml - ripe
then adjust the speed of the brewing

"Ditto" on the in-between part, but I selected "5" as to err on the side of more....!debunix wrote:Selecting 2, because the answer could be between 2 and 5, but usually for the young powerful stuff it's on the lower end.

Re: Poll: How many grams?
It's hard to say. It so much depends on the sheng. Some more some less but when I'm trying a new one I usually put about 5gms in my 90ml gaiwan.
Re: Poll: How many grams?
For Young stuff I am in the 7-10 grams per 100 ml area, so just to be safe I rounded it down to 7.

I like this.
7g is pretty solid, but seems a touch light. What's with all the 5g responses...kind of surprised there.
Also, I think most people would be surprised to learn that their "100 mL" vessel actually holds significantly more or less than exactly 100mL. A gaiwan sold to me as 100mL in fact holds 83mL.

Interesting, I have always thought on that, I have to check my vessels to see the real volume they hold.the_skua wrote: Also, I think most people would be surprised to learn that their "100 mL" vessel actually holds significantly more or less than exactly 100mL. Re: Poll: How many grams?
I check mine by weight: put the pot on the scale, tare (reset to zero), and add water.
My 40mL yixing holds 28 mL without spilling when I put the lid on, my 30mL gaiwan holds 45mL comfortably, and up to 60 at the brim, and my 60mL Chao Zhou pot holds 85mL to the brim, 75mL at comfortable brewing level.
