I went with my normal English parameters and had a remarkable first steep of Golden Monkey Imperial from Upton. I was so enamored by the first steep, that I had to try for a second and much to my surprise, it was almost as flavorful as the first. As I smelled the infused leaves, I could tel that quality 3rd steep could have been had.
Ah Chip, we might make you into a black tea person yet! :P

Seriously, that's very interesting that you got a second infusion from Golden Monkey. I'll have to try that and see if it will give me a good second. I have my doubts about the third, but it might be a nice attempt.

I finally learned how to brew green for my pot. Evidently, I haven't been using enough green tea (thanks to Fatali). I was putting in the same amount as a black tea. No wonder you all wax on about second and third infusions. You'd have to in order to make that expensive stuff last.

It amazes me what I've found about blacks. I used to just toss them after the first infusion. But like Chip, I have found that all of these new blacks I got from Adagio are holding up to 3 infusions. One of the interesting things is that today, I let the second infusion of Yunnan Gold steep for about 10 minutes, and the drink that resulted was amazing. It had practically the same body as the first steep, with a little less harshness, and no harm done by the extremely long steep time.

In retrospect, I believe that all my black teas need to be rejudged, and that much experimentation must be done to find the parameters that will create such perfect cups.

Interesting thoughts...I guess I should try some experimentation as well, maybe I'll be surprised.

Come on...we are talking about a guy who changes his name every few months. He will be sipping English Breakfast out of dainty porcelain any day now... one lump or two?

I loathe and detest quote tunnels. In fact, deleting unnecessary quotes is my biggest abuse of Mod Powers.

This made me smile. Rock it, The-Fuka-Formally-Known-as-Fatalitea.

So, we call him Fuka or Fatali?

Or do we try to get a third infusion?

Some still call him Rage

Perhaps a recombinant effort? Ratalimusha?

Or right now, he's become FD >_>
