I've read good things about Rishi's teapots, and I'm looking to add two to my collection - one for dan cong, and one for young sheng pu-erh. I know that pots for dan cong should be wide and flat, and preferably not duanni, and don't know much about the best pot for sheng. Can anyone recommend pots for these two tea types from Rishi's site?
To me, most of theirs are a little too big, especially if you're drinking expensive tea.

Very unscientifically, if you forced me to pick a pot or two, I'm thinking one of these two might be suitable for sheng pu'er:

(same design; different clay)

For Dan Cong, you might be able to get away with the red clay version of that one... you don't *have* to use one that's wide and flat, though it would be good if the lid opening is wide anyway.

If you're willing to try other merchants, Imen @ Tea Habitat (http://teahabitat.com), who specializes in dan cong might be able to suggest a Chaozhou pot that should be in that price range or maybe even cheaper.

Or this one might work:

The purple clay might mellow out the taste which may or may not be what you want; I don't think the difference will be that noticable. 100 ml is about 3.4 oz, which to me is a good size, but might be too small for you.

I've put my own Stamp of Approval on Rishi's Duan ni Tripod Yixing. I think it would work well for sheng.

Most all of Rishi's others are too large for me to recommend.

real nice. I went potcrazy when I first got into tea 5 months ago and bought two of these tripod pots. I use one for shu and one for most wuyi teas and I'm happy with the results. Some might say that tripod theoreticly looses heat too fast for shu, but I disagree. When ~60% - 70% of brews are less than 30 seconds shape of pot really isn't a factor, imo. Some wuyi's that are "perfect" I may use a harder clay to brew with but most are brewed in the duani tripod.

I've been buggin' Rishi to offer these pots in smaller (~100ml) size ever since I bought the tripods from them. I think they will offer smaller sizes eventually, but it wouldn't hurt if a few more teanutz contacted them about it. These pots are georgeous and such a bargin.

Hey Wes, didn't the duani pot smell great when it was new? They have their own special smell, rocky with a hint of vanilla/lemon?? I may be crazy

btw, I think the "tripod" name is something Rishi came up with. I think most people refer to that style by the Chinese name (shí piáo), which according to Babelcarp is roughly 'stone gourd ladle' (or maybe just 'stone ladle').

I imagine "tripod" could refer to any three footed teapot.

Oh my god. It smelled amazing. Very rocky, and I see what you mean by the lemon.
