his mourning I brewed up a sample of Tims 06 Yi Wu. This is a very powerful Yi Wu all around flavor huigan especially the cha qi. The first time I drank this tea was on an empty stomach and it was way to much to handle. I wish I had a cake of this but right now all my funds are going for older sheng and yixing.

The last pu-erh I sampled was the 2003 Changtai "Yichanghao" from Red Lantern. I enjoyed it for what it was worth - Some bitterness and heft still resided in the leaves while the wet storage/ traditional storage flavor swirled through my middle and back palate. It wasn't an intense storage flavor; it's almost as if it faded somewhat due to being taken out of that environment. The flavour was warm, woody, and spicy, and the aftertaste moved towards a coolness/camphor like feeling. The qi hit mostly in my upper neck/base of my skull, but it didn't last too long. Overall? a neat experience.

2007 Rui Cao Xiang 'Wu Liang Wild Arbor' Sheng from Yunnan Sourcing this evening, mellow and pleasant, more forceful and aggressive than a shu, but not as tricky or as brilliant as some of the young shengs I've been drinking this past year. Just right for a quiet evening.

It's bitter. Cannot drink now, need to keep.
Tried the ripe version as well, it has a tea first and a flowery (Love?) flavor after taste.

2011 Dayi 1kg Raw Brick / 2011年大益高山揽月 - Quite an impressive smoky dayi tea. Not the usual recipe kind of smoky taste. Smoky follows by sweet aftertaste. When brew light, it is drinkable / enjoyable if you like tobacco taste :)

In the mood for something woody so i broke into my 95' 7581 brick from Sunsing. This tea is potent for an aged shu. A nice woody after taste that last for some time. Sadly i broke the lid on my gaiwan when i was moving my tray. I've dropped this one hard many times but the concrete floor finally took a big chip off the lid. :( It seems Red Blossom no longer sells these ones on their website. The 1983 loose sheng i tossed into my pot is cheering me up though. Ah sweetness

2011 Dayi Raw (2 years material) Teabag - First attempt of brewing it failed. We brewed it like how we usually brew normal raw puerh, result in a tasteless tea. Second attempt, after reading the instructions on the box, we soak it for 3 minutes and it taste quite ok for a casual to drink tea on the move. This tea is cheap if you count by box price, but overall if you count by weight, this is more expensive than gold dayi 2011

Hrm, weird... I wonder what they did to the tea to make it need such a long steeping time?

Meanwhile, sorry to hear about the gaiwan lid, G-off-re...! :(

Still enjoying the Lao Ban Zhang I started last night to baptize a new teacup. The new cup is beautifully sized for my small gaiwans, and the LBZ really finished off a wonderful tea day well. I love how it just keeps going and going, the most pleasant sweet water at the end.

2011 Dayi Love Raw - First Dayi Carnival Commemorative Tea. Comes in the form of Raw (Toong), Raw (Gift Beeng Box), Ripe (Toong), Ripe (Gift Beeng Box).

It just arrived and we opened it immediately. This is not the ideal way of testing as it needs to be aired for awhile to show its true taste.

Anyway for the 1st day impression, this totally sucks as it is very weak and nearly tasteless. We have to soak to get the taste out. The foundation of this tea is not smoky. It is more towards Bitter Sweet.

Something special about this Pu... the back sticker seal is round and also the beeng paper is round.

Will have to revisit this tea next week and hopefully it has waken up.

What do you expect from a product with the word "Love" attached to it....of course it will be bitter sweet!
Try the ripe version now, you'll love it if you hate the raw version...and you may hate the ripe and love the raw years later.
