I use the same pot for my Liu an and Liu Bao.

Today I am drinking 80's CNNP bamboo wrapped tuocha. I have had this tea for nearly 5 years. I am always amazed when a tea that already seems very mature continues to evolve. This tea seems to have become more vibrant and developed a stronger cha qi.

2015 1000 year old trees from Teadezhang. There is some smokiness which clears after a few brews and shaking of the pot. The flavor is very subtle with the beginning of a semi thick mouthfeel and some huigan. Flavor and aroma escapes pursuit, rather weak, but what is most noticeable is the clarity of the tea as you drink it. It goes throughout your body. There is some energy here. Of course, the tea is very young and how it will develop is anyone's guess. Very pure, though, and not inexpensive.

I agree. The thing about these 1000 yrs old trees is the clarity and purity. If you brew this kind of tea side by side with younger gushu, you will obviously notice the different. Those younger tree would suddenly be more rough and not as pleasant. Drinking it alone, some might find it not very exciting.

Drinking 1999 Qizi Bing today that I purchased from a friend's tea house in Taiwan. My wife came home for her lunch break and we sat together in our front tea room in the Autumn's somber light and shared sips in meditative silence. Such a complex, mature, dense, clean chaqi and pleasant body warming. I really love this cake and bought it one evening at my friend's tea house, after hours, on a heavy rain night where four us sipped puerh in the rainy silence until the a.m., just steeping in the delicate nuances of the varying chaqi.

Blessings!

When you can sit quietly with your wife sipping tea or doing nothing, is a good sign. :D

Indeed...as long as that silence isn't her way of telling me I'm in trouble. :D

Rishi Puerh, mini tuo-chas that sits in Mom's cabinets, awaiting my visits, and now must be at least 5-6 years old. It's even mellower than when it was first bought, despite aging in a dry climate, in it's original can. Pleasant stuff as a change from mostly taiwan oolong cool-brewed for the road.

Heh, I have a 'parent's house' tea as well. A tin of benshan oolong from Tao of Tea that I despised even when fresh. My parents have offered to give it to me multiple times, and I summarily refuse. It's probably over five years old now. Every now and then I try it and confirm that it still sucks

Had the Spring Tips yesterday at Sunsing causeway bay as well. I was expecting a far lesser tea. It was nice.

2013 Bingdao from Teadezhang. The initial smokiness seems to have dissipated quite a bit, however, the tea seems to have gone underground at this stage, unwilling to open its character. Astringent and drying, little flavor or aroma. Certainly quite different than my 2009 Bingdao from a different producer. Back it goes into the cave and will not reappear in the near future.
