Trying out some mellowmonk's tamaryokucha and Den's Guricha

by ryan » Dec 12th, '08, 10:39

Just put in an order from the top leaf tamaryokucha from mellow monk as well as Den's guricha. Hopefully this will get me through the holidays where I hope to get a matcha set and get started on that habit. =)

Mellow Monk has a promotion for free shipping in December, comes in handy!

I have had 3 of Mellow Monk's teas and they were all very good. I currently have "Monk's Bliss"(tamaryokucha karigane) and "Harmony"(tamaryokucha genmaicha).

Den's guricha is a perennial favorite of mine. Don't forget to try the Maki fukamushi too. 8)

yeah, guricha was kind of a fad but i really like it. such a nice hand shake between japanese and chinese greens (much better than the dreaded chinese sencha).

I am interested in seeing your reviews on each and how they compare to each other. I enjoyed Den's guricha when I tried it, but haven't sampled Mellow Monk's yet.

My thoughts pretty much exactly, never going to replace the real deal sencha, but it is a good alternative to Chinese greens. I always felt it was better than most Chinese greens.

I tend to want the guri more in the winter, seems like it is a warming tea maybe?
