Ippodo: fast service and delivery!!!!

by tjkoko_off » Apr 25th, '09, 22:42

Living in the southeastern United States, I placed an order with Ippodo of Japan this past Wednesday, 22 April, and the items were delivered to my door three days later, 25 April. I'd call that really really fast delivery.

That has been my experience with them as well.

Was that SAL or EMS?

Near Philly, we get our SAL from most Japanese vendors in as few as 3, but more like 4-5. EMS is commonly 3. I received one recently in 2.5 days.

Larger SAL packages containing teaware, etc. seem to take much longer however. Size does not seem to matter for EMS.

Shipping was the cheaper of the two, I think, around 1,400 yen.

Ditto here. I don't know how they do it. It takes longer for me to get a domestic package.

Joelbct:

Got their most expensive matcha, Ummon... plus a moderately priced chasen. My matcha journey awaits arrival, from Yuki Cha, a second chawan and a sifter and upon receipt I'll let you all know my impressions.

And Ippodo provided some nice information on their products and how to make matcha. Can't wait to embark on this adventure.

I too, received my first shipment from Ippodo...FAST! I opened the box and all my precious items were wrapped so beautifully. Ummm...but I kid you not it smelled like weed:P
The entire box permeated my room with the smell of burning sage (love it) and...weed 8) Visions of Pink Floyd in concert danced on the shutters of my mind. I smiled and continued unwrapping

Unmmon-no-mukashi, Iri-bancha (likely the source of the oh-so shocking aroma), 100 tip chasen, sifter, and a Chashaku. I have a few other items arriving before I delve into the matcha and use my new blue Seigan Blue hagi chawan, but will try the Iri-bancha in the morning in my newly prepared Deishi Guinomi. I'll give ya a review of the goods soon!
